He also started Kimoa, a surf/lifestyle brand. Not sure how it’s doing, but being a meme is certainly helping with it. The free exposure that brand got during the 500 was priceless.
I suppose there’s some truth to his statements. He’s racing the best he can, the team is working as hard as they can, he’s getting paid more than anybody else. Personally , that’s got to be pretty good.
Now, professionally? Ouch. We’ll see if he sticks with McLaren Honda next year. If he does.

Seems like he’s mentally in a good place — having fun in spite of it all — and he’s pretty much given an ultimatum to the team, so he knows that next year, he’ll either have a competitive ride with McLaren-Honda, or he’ll be driving on a team where he can compete. His past moves have not been done with the best timing, though... so we’ll see. He’s 36, so he clearly doesn’t have any seasons left to waste to regain his former glory.
