No. It’s not ‘florida’ enough to be Earth’s florida. Even though it’s the only place to have something called florida in it, lol. You can’t get run over by the military unless you really ask for it, and the flora and fauna aren’t actively trying to kill you. Even us here in Florida can’t compete with the likes of Australia and Russia. They’re a masterclass compared to our amateur buffoonery.

Well if those are the qualifications then Australia definitely doesn’t fit the bill. You have to go out of your way to find any military. The deadliness of the Fauna is vastly overstated (unless you’re living out in the boonies)

I’m sorry, Australia comes nowhere close to America for ‘being earth’s Florida’. Russia yes and I dare say China also, if both only for the crazy ways there populations come up with genius if not completely unsafe/insane ways to keep machines going and production.
But Australians are educated and vastly more civilised than many other countries out there even if there are quite a few bogans out there.
I’m not going to rate all 196 countries (yes, I’m classing Taiwan as a country even if some countries don’t officially).
But I’d class Russia and China in the top twenty ‘Earth’s Florida’ countries.
America would come in the top 40 if not top 30.
Australia is so far behind America in the ‘Earth’s Florida’ category that they can’t even see them in the rear view mirror.

I feel like people who are ‘vastly more civilized’ than everyone else would not choose leadership that thinks they can legislate away math. Speaking as a resident, having such people as your leadership is extremely florida. That right there gets them in the top 10 at least.
Then you have to add Australia itself presenting a persistent mortality hazard to everyone living there. The ‘Australia is trying to kill you’ meme is ancient. Stories of people encountering the hazards there - and sometimes meeting their demise - pour out of the country with regularity. ‘The environment is hazardous to humans’ is a very Florida thing, but between Florida and Australia, only one of those places have man sized animals you may get into a fist fight with, thumb sized spiders with deadly venom that like to hide in your shoes, and toddler sized spiders that actually invade other countries. Like yours. If you think you can escape to the water for safety, think again, because the tiny box jellies and flesh eating sea bugs are on guard to make sure no one leaves.
China? Nooo. China has almost none of the things that make a place like florida. A mostly landlocked border means protection for the residents against the hazards in the water. China has earthquakes, but that is not a persistent hazard, only a periodic one. There are tigers that will attack people, but China is a huuuuuge place. Even though there are 1.3B humans there, all of them could live their lives in China without seeing one in the wild. Most of all though, what kills China’s chances at winning the Florida games is the leadership. I don’t much care for communism, but it’s pretty good at keeping someone like Trump, Bush, Turnbull or Boris Johnson - who very nearly became prime minister after brexit succeeded - away from the levers of power. ‘We can legislate away math’ is a thing you will never hear a Chinese prime minister say.

The requirement for multiple lives in case you encounter some of the fauna kind of undercuts the whole ‘deadliness of the fauna is vastly overstated’ thing. The point is not that the deadly things will kill everyone, but that they are there, and their presence presents a hazard you won’t encounter anywhere else. That’s still true even if you and millions of others never personally encounter the hazard. I am as likely to get eaten by an alligator as you are to be kicked to death by a kangaroo, or chased by a Cassowarie, but none of those things are likely or even possible in Kansas, France, the UK, China, Mexico or almost anywhere else but Florida and Australia.
That and dumb leadership are what make Florida and Australia alike.

What Malcolm Turnbull had said is vastly outweighed by anything trump says on any given day. Plus people voted for trump knowing what trump was like and still did it. Politicians say stupid things from time to time but electing one that says them all the time and was doing so before being elected.
Your talking about various things from heads of government to wildlife but what makes Florida-Florida, is the insane happenings of the people within it and there many citizens with what I can only assume seriously low I.Q.s, guns, alcohol, rugs, etc...

This is true, but thinking the government can overrule math is still not a smart thing to say. Being unaware of the limitations of the powers of government is a very Florida thing for a politician to have, and that’s still true for an otherwise smart person.

Yes your a Florida resident and will know first hand what Florida is but I have a strong idea of what makes Florida Florida (ie Youtube, the news, other OPPOs on here, the internet, etc, etc...). This is not what I meant. What is worse; an incompetent person running as they are and winning? Or an incompetent person running as something else and winning? The bad thing at the end - them getting control of the government - is the same result regardless of how they got there.
But yes; all of those things you said are bad. A business person should not be running the government, nor should he have billions of dollars if he is bad at business, nor should anyone vote for him, nor should he continue being incompetent if he manages to win. Also yes, I would trade Turnbull for Trump as POTUS in less time it would take for North Korea to test another missile.
