When the IT guy who came to look at the computer they borked decides that taking it to the Apple store is the best way forward.

Should have done a time machine restore, remove what ever shit image they were using and use a normal one.

That’s what I did, also we call our help desk “welp desk”.

When I got my first IT job we were 50/50 Mac and PC, with a staff of 10 supporting a few hundred users. 8 were PC and 2 dedicated to Macs, and we had to let one of those guys go because we didn’t have enough work for him and he didn’t want to work on PCs. I was safe because I could work both and even knew how to fix ancient versions of Windows.

Sometimes I want to get back into IT, and then I realize I prefer it when I can just walk away from stupid computer issues and just let them be someone else’s problem...

I am an army of one who takes care of 90 users scattered in 6 different offices that are all an hour or two away from me.

Tomorrow I’m going to my furthest office.

I think I should ask for a raise.

Filevault? or some third party encryption?

and they can’t even get to recovery from a bootable drive and re-image it?

Macs are pretty hard to kill in my experience, the drive might be fucked.
