I’ve got a rental for a couple of days in Los Angeles for work. Since my options from Budget were a free mid-size “upgrade” to a Nissan Sentra (no compacts available, last midsize they had) or to pay $30 total extra and get a Camaro. I’ve rented a convertible ‘14 before and this is a newer hard top so its about the same, certainly better than the Nissan garbage. I’ve gotta pay out of pocket for the upgrade but it’s well worth it.

How’s the visibility on this gen? I’ve been in my Uncle’s 2012 a few times and it feels as if I’m in a tank

Today my kid saw a new Impala and said “look it’s a Camry!” I looked at him, looked at the row of cars, and looked back at him confused, because there wasn’t a single Toyota. Then he said “no,,, Camro.. camera?... Camaro!” I told him couldn’t be a Camaro because it has four doors. But looking at the front then on this one, I kinda get his confusion.

I mean I’m used to driving a miata so everything is hard to see out of in comparison. It’s definitely like being inside of a tank just because of the door sill height. While driving, it’s actually fine with the mirrors adjusted. I had no troubles navigating LA traffic. But parking is ridiculous. That Backup camera is absolutely necessary! I can’t see anything if I don’t look in the mirrors.

I suppose a Sentra is an upgrade if the alternative is being repeatedly stabbed in the eye with a soldering iron. Excellent decision.

It’s a rental car so of course it’s a V6. Although I think they do have an SS for a lot of money in their speciality groups. But I’d get a manual SS from Turo if I was looking to try one I’d actually consider buying.
I haven’t really had time to hoon this one. But the last one I rented I hooned the hell out of it. Was tons of fun, sounded amazing for a V6, handled well for how heavy it was, and traction control defeat did well. It Canyon carved, did donuts, and did burnouts so I was happy. I can’t see shit but it’s still fun.

Well yeah I wouldn’t buy this version nor would I pay a bunch of money for one, but for $30 and not having to drive a Nissan sentra, I consider it quite the good idea.

Yup, sure the Nissan was free since work is paying and won’t pay for the upgrade to the camaro, but that’s fine I’ll eat the $30 for my own enjoyment. It certainly accelerates onto the highway and makes good noises. Just needs a v8 and manual and then I’d actually like to have one.
