Kinja'd!!!

If you didn’t catch my last edition of, Really, That’s Your Vehicle Lineup? Then feel free to read through that real quick before I delve into the direction I think the company should go!

Note: Any engine designations with * aftermeans I’m refering to a next generation of the engine. If you people want I can dig into what I’d like to see added to the engines in question.

First and foremost: Jeep just release a fucking pickup already. You know people will buy it, just do it. I guess that’s as good a lead in as I’ll have, let’s go!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Kinja'd!!!

Renegade
Honestly think they’ve got the right mindset with this one. Only change is ditching the 2.4L
Powertrains: 1.4L Turbo*, 2.0L Turbo

Compass:
Man they really screwed everything up by making the Cherokee the goofy looking fuck and not giving it this face. Too late to change it now though. I’d want to see them radicalaize the design of the Compass at it’s mid-cycle in 2020/2021 as well as release a hybrid version of the vehicle, ideally as soon as late 2018.
Powertrains: 1.4L Turbo*, 2.0L Turbo, 1.4L Turbo Hybrid

Cherokee:
For fucks sake they need to fix this things front end up a bit. MCR needs to give it a more Grand Cherokee esque face and a more elaborate version of the Trailhawk, I’m thinking a 2.4L Turbo HO Trailcat
Powertrains: 2.0L Turbo, 2.4L Turbo*

Grand Cherokee:
Don’t ruin your best seller, other than some powertrain changes leave it alone:
Powertrains: 2.4L Turbo*, 2.2L Diesel, 3.6L Turbo*, 3.6L Bi-Turbo*

Wrangler:
I’ll hold off on anything crazy until the next gen is rolled out in the near future. I’d like to see this engine lineup though (I’ve seen the presumed list, it’s too many for just the US market for sure):
Powertrains: 2.0L Turbo, 2.2L Diesel, 2.4L Turbo

Scrambler:
Yea bitch that’s right. Based off the next gen Wrangler platform, Shares the engine lineup. Directly competes with the Ranger/Colorado/Canyon. Obligatory Trailcat is obligatory
Powertrains: 2.0L Turbo, 2.2L Diesel, 2.4L Turbo*, 2.4L Bi-Turbo*

Kinja'd!!!

Yea I said it. Fight me.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Kinja'd!!!

I’m not going to dig into the fleet side of Ram, partially because it would take forever, partially because I don’t give a fuck. Here’s the rest.

1200
AKA fuck the Dakota name. Lower market version of the Scrambler, essentially re-uses everything except the body paneling.
Powertrains: 2.0L Turbo*, 2.2L Diesel, 2.4L Turbo*

1500
I’m looking for the next gen to implement more aluminum in the body, other than that I don’t expect nor want any crazy changes. Here’s the powertrain I want though.... Oh yea and I want the 5.7L gone.... Oops... Oh and I want a 6.2L V8 Raptor competitor... Yea I want it as the 6.2L not a 3.6L TT... I’m crazy ok?
Powertrain: 2.4L Turbo*, 3.0L Diesel*, 3.6L Turbo*, 6.2L DI*

2500/2500
Nothing too crazy, more aluminum here as well.
Powertrain: 3.6L Turbo*, 6.2L DI*, 6.7L Diesel*

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Kinja'd!!!

Coronet
Yea that’s right. Gotta shake up the car segment somehow right? Why not bring back the Coronet nameplate. Base it on the current 200 platform. Target Fusion sales specifically.
Powertrains: 1.4L Turbo*, 2.0L Turbo, 2.4L Bi-Turbo, 1.4L Turbo Hybrid*

Charger:
Nothing crazy here, give it an all aluminum body if it doesn’t have it already. Oh and add on a luxo-package line similar to BMW’s sport/luxury model lines they did on the 3 series for a while.
Powertrain: 2.0L Turbo, 2.4L Turbo, 3.6L Turbo, 3.6L Bi-Turbo... Wait shit I said nothing crazy... Fuck

Challenger
Umm... Nothing too... Yea my bad. Same shit as above.
Powertrain: 2.0L Turbo, 2.4L Turbo, 3.6L Turbo, 3.6L Bi-Turbo.

Century:
Honestly I just picked a name and I’m going with it. Escape sized CUV, all aluminum, based on the Compass but with no off-road version and a high-end luxury option... Oh and an SRT option.
Powertrains: 1.4L Turbo*, 2.0L Turbo, 2.4L Bi-Turbo, 1.4L Turbo Hybrid*

Journey:
Complete re-engineering of the current journey, based off the Cherokee platform, same adjustments as the Century/Compass
2.0L Turbo, 2.4L Turbo*, 2.4L Bi-Turbo*

Durango
Nothing crazy, more aluminum, maybe drop the base price slightly if possible.
Powertrain: 2.4L Turbo*, 2.2L Diesel, 3.6L Turbo*, 3.6L Bi-Turbo*

Grand Caravan
Take everything the current T&C has and put a Dodge face on it.
Powertrain: 2.0L Turbo, 2.4L Turbo, 1.4L Turbo Hybrid*

Daytona
Oh you thought I was done? Shit no! Based off the current Alfa 4C. Starting price ~$40,000 and no auto option.
Powertrain: 1.4L Turbo*, 2.4L Turbo*, 2.4L Bi-Turbo*

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Kinja'd!!!

I couldn’t find a gravestone. Sue me.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Kinja'd!!!

FCA please stop fucking around and move them up the luxo-scale.

4C
Move it up in price to ~$65,000 base, add engine options and more luxury options, no manual option... See what I did there?
Powertrain: 2.4L Turbo, 2.9L TT

Giulia
WHY THE FUCK DOES THIS START AT $38,000?!? Up the base options/quality and start it at $48,000+
Powertrain: 2.4L Turbo, 2.9L TT (I mean they already have it), 3.6L Bi-Turbo

Stelvio:
Move the base price up to $55,000, up the base options.
Powertrain: 2.2L Diesel, 2.9L TT, 3.6L Bi-Turbo

I’m sure all of you will strongly dispute all of this so let’s hear it! What are your thoughts?

P.S. For the record that’s 12 engines total (I think I counted right) and 10 SRT models (Not counting the Alfas).

One V8? You want to saddle the trucks with ONE V8?

No sir. I don’t like it, not one bit. The 5.7 needs to stay - it is bread and butter - sure update it but shit it is 12+ years old and still better than GM’s 5.3 and on par with the 5.0 Coyote.

Kinja'd!!! "shpuker" (shpuker)
08/06/2017 at 20:15, STARS: 0

This is the change I’m most hesitant to suggest for sure, but in my opinion the 5.7L Is slotted at a point where it doesn’t do anything that a direct injected 3.6L Turbo couldn’t take its place. Two other key points:

If you replace it in the Charger/Challenger with the 3.6L Turbo then you free up your design team for the next gen platform significantly. This would allow for massive weight reductions and an improvement to the vehicles cornering dynamics.

As emissions regulations tighten up it’s going to be extremely hard to justify the types of changes required to get the 5.7L to the same emissions level as the 3.6L Turbo could be with minimal effort. This will drive the cost up and make it less viable. You can still run the 6.2L because you can run it as a premium level engine and justify the cost.

Fiat needs to stay.

Also the Wrangler Truck should be a Scrambler, the Comanchee was an XJ. So unless it’s a boxed unibody rather than BOF it’s not a Comanchee

I’m pretty sure that it has been all but confirmed that the next generation of Wrangler will have a truck variant (as well as a hybrid powertrain option, though my guess is that won’t be on the truck variant).

For the Cherokee, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the upcoming MY19 refresh bring it in line with the brand design language.

Except the 5.7 nets better loaded fuel economy than its downsized and turbocharged competitors, and doesn’t require premium fuel.

You must be crazy. No V8 in the Challenger, Grand Cherokee, Daytona (which should not be based of a 4c, and Charger? Nope, nope, nope.

Furthermore, the 300 is pretty damn successful. Chrysler needs to keep that going for a long time. Maybe bring in a convertible off the platform as well. I would hate to see a company with so much heritage go to waste.

Oh trust me I am! If it we’re up to me every non-performance car would be running all electric with 1.0L-1.6L turbo generators

The 4c Platform would lend itself well to a Corvette competitor (the Daytona) assuming GM goes mid-engine on the next gen, which I’m 99.99 sure they will (I’ve been wrong before). If Dodge put a higher powered 4C to market just before hand though they’d cause serious problems for the Corvette team.

I agree, the 300 is remarkably successful, but if FCA is serious about bringing Alfa to the US market and making it high volume (Which I’m mostly for) then it needs to be their sole high-end brand. AKA there’s no room for Chrysler in this combination IMO. The introduction of the luco-Charger is an attempt at mitigating the losses from cutting the 300 but they likely won’t save 100% of the customers. It would be a shame to see them go, but at this point they’ve built such a shit public image around them that it’d be hard to try and shift it to a true luxury brand. Alfa (at least in the US) has an image that could easily be moved to that role though.

The premium fuel comment is valid.

The loaded fuel economy comment is valid assuming you’re only looking at hauling FE. When you look big picture though the vast majority of time in all trucks is spent unloaded. So when you’re pulling a trailer, yes the V8's are better on fuel. But the turbo 6's perform better in all scenarios and under normal driving situations achieves better fuel economy.

I’m not well versed on the 5.7L post 2012 but my dad had a 2010 5.7L 1500 and he was seeing around 16 city/22 highway/19-19.5 combined/12ish loaded on his (had a CAI+ exhaust and a foot made of feathers so IDK how to adjust that). Running 26 highway on a HEMI is unheard of from everything I know though so I’m not sure how to run after that bit. I’ll do some more diggin on the it though.

The old 5 speed was a terrible mate to the 5.7.

Honestly I don’t think the memory of it is firm enough to hurt potential sales, but the “Oh I’ve heard of that” level f name recognition should help it’s base sales.

I wouldn’t want to see Dodge run a competitor to the Renegade AND Compass (Not 100% sure why but I’ve got a feeling like they’d drive sales out for whatever reason), but I could get behind a Renegade in its place for sure. Personally I think a Dodge version of the Compass would do better than a different Renegade though. Plus it gives a lot more room to play with pricing.

Where are the V8's, cunt?

Gotta have that sound.

Gotta have V8's in the lineup.

I will not accept the death of the V8. The 5.7 still belongs as the lower power one, and the 6.4 belongs as the higher power one. 400HP on the 5.7, and 500 on the 6.4, at the crank with equal torque/HP figures, both seeing around a ~6000 RPM redline.

And like Toyota, these should each have MOPAR Supercharger/Turbo kits that will be good for another ~250HP under warranty.

Other than that, I kinda think you’re a bit out of your depth. Kill Chrysler? Hardly. The 300c is a good looking car and a total sleeper as an SRT-8 vehicle.

IMO, bring back the Magnum, Viper, a Crossfire type vehicle, and add something that can compete with the likes of the Ford GT. Make Jeep pickups, make a Durango pickup kinda like the Ford Explorer Sport-Trac, make a performance Ram 1500{SRT}, and make the Dakota in an SRT performance package as well.

And make the Fiat 500 an RR machine. {{And give an SRT variant to pretty much everything, as well as AWD options and manual transmissions to all.}}

Oh, also, make UTEs. Specifically ones that look masculine and badass and more like trucks. A ‘11-’14 Charger/’15+ Challenger/’08 Magnum Ute{or an update based on it] = THE SHIT!!
