Kinja'd!!!

Fed the dog yesterday morning and he ate a little and left it. That’s normal for his morning feedings. But the day wore on and he still didn’t finish it off. He still seemed pretty happy with life and gladly ate some table scraps. This morning the food bowl was the same. I sat in a chair by the food dish and noticed ants in the ground. I traced them to his food dish holder and found that there were ants all over his food in the dish.

Dog has now ate, and ant traps have been placed. We’ll see how this goes.

Kinja'd!!!

Get a horned lizard.

Seriously, I hope the ant traps get rid of them.

If the ant traps don’t work get Advion ant gel (can find it on Amazon).

Leave little blobs on paper away from where doggos and kiddos can get to it. It’s the nuclear option for ants. Works great.

Or my dad uses borax and sugar because it’s non-toxic. But he still has ants, so...

Dog will now fart uncontrollably. Good luck!

Many years ago, a friend of mine had a bearded dragon which we released to eat household insects. This is probably the most satisfying way to watch an insect be destroyed. The largest insect it ate was a very large beetle, which probably look the bearded dragon at least half an hour to swallow.

I used to be that kid who burnt ants with a magnifying glass, but I find that in most bug encounters the sun usually isn’t directly overhead and I don’t remember the last time I saw a magnifying glass that wasn’t on a computer screen.

I hate ants. I live in a house (rented) in the Bay Area is smack dab in the middle of the Argentine Ant invasion. You just beat them back - that’s all you can do. One supercolony stretches from Mexico to Canada.

Yeah that’s always been my experience as well. Having fought ants a lot growing up, once they show up the most you can generally do is keep them at bay.

I’ve had great luck getting rid of ants with Taro liquid ant baits.

We had ants this spring. Put the ant baits out. After 2-3 weeks I haven’t seen another ant.

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind. My brother has some diotemacious earth on hand for his garden, so I may borrow some of that to see if it works.

I doubt if I’d ever have a bearded dragon loose in my house. I’d probably go with ant traps.

+1 for Advion gel. My friend rents an apartment in a private house and found out the hard way that the landlord is a hoarder of the highest degree. His house was overrun with roaches for months and no amount of Raid traps/sprays would do anything. A quick google search I found Advion and sent him the link. No lie, within 2 weeks the infestation was completely gone.

We have them too. I called in a professional. Can’t deal with it anymore. I’ve had traps and ant killer out and they just keep coming and keep coming.
