Some were used in Northern Ireland, mostly on army patrol and were used briefly by Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI) they weren’t that resilient to petrol bombs or had any side protection from things going underneath but they last got used in the middle east. They were pretty much taken out of service due to lack of protection from IEDs whilst on patrol.
There main purpose was to get in quickly and get out but over time they were getting used beyond their remit.

Is it the prices you’re finding weird? Defender prices have always been silly, even more so now that they are out of production.
My brother sold his year old, one of the last off the line, Defender 110 Landmark, in Corris grey with the optional black Sawtooth alloys, with 4k on it for 14 grand more than he paid new, his phone basically rang off the hook as soon as the ad went up, even taking the 10% off list price for it, he still made about 10 grand profit!

The Spectre one isn’t the only one on there either, the other is quite a bit cheaper.
The Spectre is high priced. While the Snatch having been given a full up rebuild is cheap for what it is.

Svend, I think the two white ones in the middle are not exactly “Snatch” but APV “Piglets”, with much heavier armour and better protection. Just look at the more substantial sides of those.
It seems the Snatch was a faster, lighter, simplified version of the Piglets to be used in (NI) country areas, whereas the Piglets were aimed at (NI) urban service (hence the rubber skirting).
It is terrible the Snatch got a bad reputation, but as you say, they were used for missions for which they were absolutely unsuitable.
Interesting to see the use of polyurethane bushings throghout!

At first I thought the snatch price was ridiculous(I like to peruse your MoD Tender page ever since the military episode of Top Gear). However with that rebuild I don’t know how it is that price.

Ye’, the Piglets were to show what PSNI were using in preference to the Snatch Land Rovers.
I should of clarified it better in my earlier post.
I was over there for about three months. The Snatches in camo were used by the the army when patrolling and police Piglets would be parked up from time to time on roads in Belfast, Comber and Newcastle, Northern Ireland.
