Kinja'd!!!

I’ve suddenly developed a want for Rota Grid Vs. Yes, I am aware they are Volk te37V replicas. I can’t really justify Volks right now. Would I buy Volks if I could? Hell yes. I wouldn’t even bother looking at Rotas. But with that said, Rota looks like they’ve gotten better and aside from them being replica wheels they’re not a bad buy. Any oppos have experience/oppinons on Rotas?

From what I understand, Rota makes perfectly acceptable wheels in terms of quality. That’s said I would not support replicas or a company that built itself on replicas.

Hey, if Volk wanted to beat them, they should have made replicas of their own wheels before Rota.

What happens to Volk Rays in case of a crash...:

I personnally stick with quality wheels like SSR or Watanabe because Volk are out of my price range for wheels...

See, that’s my dilemma. Rotas are replicas but at the same time they make pretty decent quality stuff. And after a while there’s only so many unique designs you can make for a wheel. Volks are among some of the best wheels and I get that. If I had the money I would get them in a heartbeat. But for the price point and extra weight for a set of Rotas, I almost feel like it’s justifiable.

Let’s be honest, they’re replicas but nobody is going to be seriously cross-shopping Volks with Rotas. If they do then they have no idea what they want. Rotas are more a compromise for Volks than anything.

Or a Volk te37 that’s heavier but cheaper. That’d be similar to Samsung offering up multiple lines of TVs with varying panel quality and technology.

Those look like XXRs which I stay away from like the plague. But you’re right, I’m a little wary of trying Rotas because of their reputation. SSR does have some nice wheels but their offsets are not to my taste on the BRZ (read: not concave enough).

I considered them for the MR2, but eventually went for OZs, because lightweight, yo.

Have you checked out Work Wheels? They are more expensive (though nowhere near Volk prices), but come in a huge range of offsets and widths.

They can be custom PCD drilled as well (in the UK at least, but should be possible through the US vendors too).

Rotas aren’t that much cheaper than a set of quality wheels like the Enkei RPF01 or Avanti Storm. Both are well-known in the Spec Miata community

Have you looked into some of the cast Enkei stuff? They’re good value for money, and then you’re not supporting a company that rips off other peoples’ designs.

I’m really hoping that this is a joke.

On 86's, go with the Rays Volk TE37. They honestly look like it is made for that car. They go together so damn well. Even better if you have WRB BRZ and you get the bronze—absolutely drool-worthy.

If you can’t afford to get Rays forged wheels for your BRZ, don’t bother getting some cheap ass wheels and stick to stock until you got the cash for Rays.

For the same money, a few quality parts improve your car way more than a ton of ebay knockoffs.

That’s my train of thought as well. However I think if I were to spend the cash on Volks I’d wait for until I got an M3 and just get Volks for the M3. At least then it wouldn’t be all show and no go like my BRZ would be on Volks.

Well if the Volks give you wider rubber, which most likely they will, that is a performance upgrade. And definitely a performance upgrade if they are lighter than stock. On a BRZ though, heavier and wider wheel/tire combos would certainly lower the fun factor and make the car feel slower.
