Lets assume my wife’s Corolla is totalled from the other day, I’m guessing the insurance company would throw a number of around 3k for it. Pictures in a previous thread if you want to look: rear bumper, right rear quarter panel, tire, and rim are all trashed.
1. Fight to fix it
2. Find something else a bit more interesting and reliable as a DD without spending more than say $4k. Miata isn’t the answer as I need two car seats.
Metro DC area, emissions are required.

Kia Spectra Hatch? (I’m assuming they are around 4k for an older one)
Side note: you may be able to milk more than 3k, my brothers 01 Elantra(that was clearly roached) got $2500 after a fender bender.

Yup . small hatches FTw! I had a great ownership experience with my spectra hatch. Look at vibe / matrix to stay in toyota family. Also Honda fits are solid buys if slower. Though less fun , another idea is mid 2000 crvs. Depending on the area, some have come down to $4k ish.
