Spottef by a friend of mine on the LA freeway yesterday. That would be the Explorer that Tim was in that got pushed into a tree by the T-Rex. Why would it be on a military truck?

I’ll take a stab at it:
Dinosaurs have already begun their inevitable “kill all humans” rampage, and the main protagonist (possibly joined by some sort of damsel in distress or child) are running through the jungles of Isla Nublar to get to some safety point (a landing zone, the docks, the ruins of the old park, etc.). All of the sudden, they stumble on the 25-year-old remains of this Explorer and think “Omg! What the heck happened here?” before their interest is cut short by a T-Rex roar or Velociraptor hiss. All the while we get to be all nostalgic about the first film and remember how much better it was than the CGI fuck-fest we’re watching now.

I think they are using it for Jurassic World 2, but that was the SUV from the first movie.

My guess is the military truck is part of the movie. Like in the past where the security or bad guys have military type vehicles since dinosaurs are so big.
The explorer means they’re probably going back to the original island. It’ll be in the background or something

Jurassic Park is one of those movies with obsessive fans. They have to be right. Of course I wonder if it has the magic self healing headlights from the 1st movie.

Staring at the pic for the first minute or so, I was convinced that they had actually saved the original prop from being (more) crushed or left to rust. But nah, couldn’t be. I mean it could, but that’s too much to hope for after 25 years, I think. They must have worked very hard to duplicate the original. Great job!

I haven’t seen the new one, but maybe in the new-new one the military is involved and trying to wipe out all the dinosaurs or whatever and part of that involves cleaning up the island, and this just has sort of a cameo in the background?
