I’m super distracted because I just want to get on the road already! Just waiting for a few higher ups to leave so I can. In the mean time. DD TRACK BURN. +1 If you have an awkward childhood memory from the roller rink.

DD - Quads, because they’re awesome.

Trackday - Vanillas, because speed skating is kinda rad.

Burn - Street Hockey skates, because hockey belongs on Ice.

those arent hockey skates, those are freestyle skates, notice the grind plate inbetween the 2nd and 3rd wheel. hockey skates have bigger wheels and a smaller boot that legit looks like a hockey ice skate. that said fuck your hot take on street hockey

DD the vanillas because those wheels are massive and will roll over cracks and pebbles with ease.

Track (skate park?) Team pup and suds. Point for the Disney reference.

Burn the retro things because the wheels are laid out wrong.

:(

After moving from Maine to Virginia as a kid, inlines have been the only way I’ve been able to enjoy playing for the past 25 years.

The first winter I spent here, the only place for miles that made ice had a roof collapse under snow weight. All sixteen fucking inches of it. Really, Virginia? Sixteen inches? That’s a couple hours of lake effect in Buffalo, but it’ll collapse an entire athletic center here. (I’m still bitter 25 years later). The collapse also led to the end of the semi-pro team that “played” here. It wasn’t really hockey, it was boxing on ice, and the crowds didn’t know what they were looking at. Beautiful passing/puck movement = crickets. Two guys drop gloves in a corner = beer flies everywhere and the crowd goes wild.

Kinja'd!!!

Yup, that’s a rebel flag fashioned crudely into a maple leaf. Almost made me wonder if the collapse was lousy structural engineering or Karma.

Not hockey skates. These are the critters you seek:

Kinja'd!!!

And while I agree that hockey belongs on ice, these are the best all-rounders imo so they get a pass.

Yeah they’re weird. I’ve wanted to try them but theyre also kind of expensive. I bought a nice long board instead

if you are travelling at some speed and you hope off then they are likely to carry on before you get a chance to stop them surely?

Yeah probably, but I’d take that over blades. Where bailing isn’t even an option. Also they probably wouldn’t get as far as a skate board.

Rollerblades sure have changed since the original design.

Kinja'd!!!

The bearings on those wheels were awful. All of my friends upgraded as soon as we figured out how to ride them. They were such a radical change from rollerskates.

The plastic on mine disintegrated years ago. The last time I tried to put them on, half the eyelets popped out and the upper boot split off at the side rivets.

I tried to get my kids interested so I could justify some new skates for myself, but they just didn’t care.
