Some people love it, others are angered by it because it’s actually a salvageable car and because I turned down 1500 dollars for it in order to turn it into a planter. What say you, Oppo? This is just the start, it will have tons of shrubs, flowers, ivy, tall grass, etc to tie it all together. I also need to figure out what year it is and put period correct plates on it. And dammit I got my finger in the picture!

Love it. Looks purposeful, not like the random cars left to rot in the front yard you see in some areas

I agree with Chariotoflove, its your car and do what you want.

However, I personally would prefer to see it restored.

Okay, overstating things somewhat, but there’s too much good steel there for me to be totally okay with it.

Reminds me of a local guy that has a vintage truck in his front yard. He live’s on a backroad (not in a neighborhood). Truck has been there for at least 15 years. In the past couple years a new neighborhood was built, and the homeowners complained to the city about the truck being an eyesore. The city found a code that say’s no vehicles can be parked on the grass. So what does he do?

He put the truck up in the air with some ibeams he welded together. Then he installed landscape lighting to shine on it at night.

Cracks me up everytime I pass it.

I’d prefer it restored and back on the road, but hey, this looks cool too & it’s not my car.

Personally I think it’s a complete waste, especially if someone was willing to restore it. It’s not my car though so it doesn’t really matter what I think.

Do what you want as it’s your car.

That said, one of my pipe dreams is to build a Nash Metro with an aluminum 427 big block so if I were you I’d be breaking out the plasma cutter.

Put some protectant on it and I’m fine with it. I like the green. I’d just hate to see it look really brown and crusty in a year or two.

A light sanding followed up with some clear urethane or similar protectant. Just something you can brush on thick that dries clear.

To be specific - use a higher grit sandpaper. Like over 500 grit. Maybe even 1000 at minimum, and use a light touch. THat way you won’t scrub away the paint, but you will remove surface oxidation, give the urethane or whatever you find some rough surface to bit into, and leave behind the majority of whatever paint is left on it.

Nash/Kelvinator (like the refrigerator?). Pretty sure it’s a 53, first year. I had a 53 Ohio plate, but only one, so I put 56 plates on it. Close enough.

I’m one of those people who feels guilty seeing it like that and knowing it’s restorable, especially if you turned down money from somebody who wanted to buy and restore it....

But, it looks cool and it’s your money, so I can’t tell you what to do. Better than being crushed and turned into toasters and fridges!

It was destined to be a parts car. So the way I see it, I saved it from dismemberment and now it will be appreciated for what it is by countless passersby.

If the frame was bent to hell and it couldn’t be salvaged fine. But this is a car that could still be here in two hundred years. It is worth saving I think. It will be a piece of history one day if it is saved.

I’m not a fan given the car is restorable. Do this with a car too rotted to save and I’d be behind you 100%.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for a rusty but complete front clip from a 40s/early 50s car to bury in the flower bed like a car is rising up out of the ground.

I like his sense of humour.

I knew a guy that had a Lincoln. He took it on some huge road trip, and it died not long after he got home. He put a small plastic fence around it and called it his Lincoln Memorial.
