15k Daydreaming: both of these are powered by same engine (LS2) & same transmission (TR6060 or 6L80e). Which one will oppo get.
Obviously the rx8 needs major work to be swapped, and to get the tr6060 manual into a regular g8 needs work (FYI G8 gxp manual are still 25k+). But either direction is easily do-able under 15k.

Two very different cars with very different intentions. So hard to say. Also, if I recall correctly, it is A LOT of work to make a TR6060 work in a G8 GT. I don’t know of any successful swaps.

If you’re just going to swap the RX8, I’d just get the G8. Less work, less problems, and when you add up total cost plus labor (And yes, I factor my own labor hours into a purchase), you will probably be around the same amount.

Isn’t there an off the shelf kit for the RX8? I know I’ve seen one for the 3.6L DOHC V6 that GM uses in lots of things (LFX if I recall correctly). That wouldn’t be a terrible motor either.

One has room for three adults in the back and the other... doesn’t.
It’s also very difficult to swap anything other than a GXP-spec TR6060 into the G8, so consider the added cost for one of those.

True. I just tend to like the smaller, higher-revving motors over the big lopey ones. Not that there’s not plenty to love about a big stonking V8, that is.
It’s probably cheap to source an LFX since they’re nowhere near as in demand as the LS and they were put into loads of different vehicles. Whether the cash saved on the purchase of the engine is enough to offset the lower output, I dunno.

I have only seen a handful of G8s with a Holden front bumper cover. Have you ever priced one? They are fairly pricey. Look up the prices from JHP. I saw a silver G8 GT yesterday afternoon that was loud and quick, but needed a bunch of cosmetic work.
