Kinja'd!!!

I’m gonna keep the truck and start on some mild mods for the time being to make it a bit more interesting. What I’m picturing for my end result is something similar to this though.

Next step is to figure out an exhaust. I’m thinking true duals.

Tangent, but I’ve often dreamed of building sort of like a GMC Typhoon clone. But not really a clone. Just lower it and do a bunch of suspenion and chassis stuff to make it handle well and engine too of course.

With air springs you could use it both as a truck and sports truck!

But air springs are complicated and heavy! Need to simplify and add lightness!

That’s why you let the frame rust out!

That truck has super trick wide 5 hubs and wheels. I’m planning to use quite similar solution (far away in the future) with one of my projects.

What on Earth. What’s the point of using those?

Weight savings and very large diameter bearings. The hub is large but hollow. The brake disc and wheel are mounted further away from the center so the forces going through the hub are lower so the hub can be made lighter. Also the wheel and the disc are lighter as the holes though them are larger.

They also allow camber on live axle as a CV joint can be mounted outside the hub and floating driveshaft goes through the whole hub. They are common in oval racing machines used in certain race classes.

Interesting. I’ll have to do some more reading up on them, never really thought about it.
