I have a ‘91 Corolla with 4AFE engine. Could I swap a 95-97 4AFE if I switched over the intake, exhaust, et cetera?

Clue me in ... does the swap get you from carbs to fuel injection? In other words, why would you do this?

Because the current engine is blowing blue smoke.

That would be probably the best reason ... what is it - rings?

Some say valve guides. Smog is due. I don’t want to scrap the car. It’s an excellent car. 240k miles.

Well then you HAVE to keep it. 240K is the distance to the moon. Swap the engine, and you’re on your way back!

Swap with what? That’s what my post was about.

Well yeah, and it’ll be fun to see photos of what happens ...

From what I find in the googles the second-gen engine has the injectors on the intake manifold and different intake ports, ruling out an intake swap.

May be a dumb question, but would a 4A-GE swap be out of the question? It should pretty much bolt right in, and if you got the ECU and harness with it, theoretically it should be kinda straight forward.

Assuming that valve guides or seals are the problem, I may just remove the head and do some work to it and buy myself a year or two.

I don’t know. Car is kind of old for swaps and smog tests.
