I’m aware mine is limited to 118 mph thanks to the ContiProContacts, but I don’t trust it over 90 mph. The tires don’t give me any confidence to go over 90.

Nice.

Piglet will sit at 100 all day quite happily.

My Passat has it’s little faults but it always drove really well, especially with new tires. But then again, the US Passat is very different from the EU Passat.

Such are the advantages of long German-ish cars. Great for Autobahn-like driving.

Sadly not. At this point in life I really wouldn’t mind getting shot.

I’ve gotten up to 145 in the M3 before, never hit the top speed.

It was quite a meh experience, I looked at the speedo and it said 180 kph (middle of the night, 5 lane empty road, no mentions of cops on Waze) so I figured why the hell not.

I could run my TT at 120-130 mph for long stretches, no problem.

I hit the top speed once. The owners manual said it was limited to 155. I had to know if it would hit 155.

I did it. Never again.

Whatever magic was keeping the front end on the ground at 130 didn’t exist above 140. Really squirrelly handling.

Should have expected that, I suppose. The car is shaped like an airfoil

I feel you, I pushed the Solara to 120 the other day (the fastest I’ve had it yet), I got there and asked my self “what am I doing? This doesn’t even feel fun”. I will say it’s one way to REALLY cover some ground though. It was quite surprising how quickly that mile or so had gone by.

Yeah, Passat showed no problems at 135 mph, but I guess it was originally built for this king of driving, gearbox jumped from S5 to S6 and it just kinda sat there at 135, fully planted to the grounded. It helps that it is quite a long and heavy-ish car.

How did the TT feel at 155?

I’ve never had a long enough run to see where my truck stops accelerating... well, once, but my speedo only goes to 180kph and I didn’t have my Ultra Gauge yet (or any other speed measuring device).

Since then I’ve had a couple runs up to 200kph that I had the UG for (~3/4 mile run up from 130kph), but nothing like the run I had before when I had an empty prairie and an empty road to go with it. My math for that run puts me at least at your mark.

All that being said, I don’t know how much further I trust the tires. They’re LT tires on 16" rims, so they’ve only got a T rating. I figure it’s fine here and there but I wouldn’t want to really hammer it for too long. I could get 18" rims in OEM style to allow for a better tire but a) I kinda like the extra sidewall and b) $$$. I’m too cheap to stump up for 18" tires.

Like it was floating on a pocket of air. I tapped the brake firmly, but quickly to bring it down, then applied firmer braking once it steadied itself. It felt like the car came down 6 inches, but who knows. There was lots of drama for a few seconds then all was fine.

Kept speed runs to the 120-130 range after that. The car was planted and fine at those speeds
