!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Here in Austin some intersections are so bad at sensing cars, I get out and press the crosswalk button to get a green light... so I guess the ones in my city work.

I have to do the same with the light outside of my parking garage sometimes or else I can end up waiting up to five-ten minutes.

To add insult to injury, even when I do have it green, I see people go through the intersection at least twice a week.

And everyone blocks the box, which means I have to pull out and wedge my bumper between two cars, because homie don’t play that shit.

I think there Six stoplights in my town, I can avoid all but one if I try.

I’ve had a hard time understanding why these buttons even exist. With timed intersections, the crosswalk is typically activated with the green light for that direction. So you’re only waiting, eh, about a minute or so, tops, to cross. Not really worth having a button that would allegedly speed things up IMO.

But maybe I just don’t spend enough time as a pedestrian in big cities where people do more walking, crossing several streets one after the other, where each “measly” minute adds up... Or maybe these buttons are more popular with sensor-controlled intersections, and won’t activate the crossing light on their own?

I dunno. At any rate, I agree with the notion that people shouldn’t be able to mess with well-timed traffic patterns at will.
