That’s just shy of 750 miles on a single charge with an average speed of over 50 mph... Now given this is a stripped out DIY vehicle and they’re running their batteries far harder than any automaker would ever dare, but I’d say this is a pretty clear indication of the future of vehicles.

Using hypermiling techniques, someone managed to go 560 miles on a stock Tesla Model S P100D...

Imagine how well it would’ve done if you took the fail-safe SOC limits off the Tesla

This is a little like the guys who make a 1000hp 2.0L engine. It does it, but only for a very short distance. Show me an electric taxi that does 400 miles between charges for 200,000 miles and i’ll be impressed. Actually i’ll be just dumbfounded and giddy with technical excitement!

In a way it is. If you tried to cycle a battery pack the way they did regularly you’d end up killing it remarkably quickly. People taking swings at things like this helps to kickstart innovation though and its a great indicator back to automakers and various levels of government that this type of vehicle is viable.
