Is because it’s the size of a fleet of ships:

Customer hated the cloth - it’s that velour-like stuff that Nissan uses that attracts hair, dust, and crumbs like a magnet.

And wanted piping and stitch to match the outside. This is CST 001 black, with perforated inserts, 089 Slate piping, and 69071 Stone stitch.

As with all fresh CST installs, the wrinkles in the corners and headrests will fall out within the next few weeks.

The seats look great. Honestly, I’m starting to like the Armada. It’s handsome.

Nissan Should ditch the Armada name and give it the proper Patrol name.

Obvious take: The Armada, and moreso the Infiniti version, are easily the most obnoxious cars on the road. They’re all just a little too big for what they need to be. Reminds me of the old Montero models (the big ones) in their “opulence for the sake of opulence” approach. Honestly, I think I see 10 Infiniti versions for every Armada, I almost forgot they existed.

I really like the “new” Armada. If I had the need/want for a full size SUV, it’d be at the top of my list.

I don’t get it, for a truck as expensive as this it still comes with cloth interior? I mean, was that like special ordered or something? “Let me get whatever is below the base model”.

It’s a retired rental from Enterprise.

These are so much better without the Infiniti baleen whale face. Tons of them going to fleets now, might not be a bad used deal in time.

When my girlfriend and I were stuck driving the Pathfinder that she hated with a burning passion, I pointed at an Armada and said “hey, it could always be worse”.

Wait just a goddamn minute now, 3rd gen Monteros are cool. And slow. Very slow. But cool.

Kinja'd!!!

It’s basically the same exterior size as the original Lexus GX470 that everyone around here loves so much, but a lot roomier inside because it’s a unibody. And way slower. Oh so slow.

But it’s still very capable off road, and the Limited has a trick awd mode and standard rear LSD on the ’01-’02. The LSD was replaced by supposedly off-road-y traction control for ’03-’06 along with a slight power bump. But it’s still slow.

I was very tempted to buy an ’01-’02 Montero Limited for a while.

The base Armada SV 4x2 has features like power seats, heated exterior mirrors, Bose stereo, navigation, front and rear parking to hopefully avoid steamrolling any small children and/or pets, and if you get the Driver Package, you also get an auto-dimming mirror, homelink, fog lights, trailer wiring, power folding 3rd row, and power tailgate.

But...cloth seats.

(If you want leather and/or a sunroof you have to go up to the SL trim.)

Nothing against the car’s technical cred (I believe it’s the Pajero, right?). I think they just got popular at a weird time in Mitsu’s history where they all ended up being the quasi-gangsta ride of choice. YMMV based on local demographics, of course. But sometimes cars get “rode hard and put up wet” based on ownership, so they end up looking like crap pretty quickly.

That’s a good looking example, but I can’t remember the last time I saw one that wasn’t just black and chrome :D

Yes, the Montero is the Pajero.

No, I never experienced the Montero being popular with that demo.

When I was a kid in the rich people suburbs of DC, Monteros and Land Cruisers were owned by fancy suburbanites who wanted 3 rows of seats but refused to drive a wagon or minivan, and a Suburban was too big and ‘MURRICA for their tastes.

Here in Madison, WI where I have lived for many years now they were never all that popular.

Btw the current Armada is actually the Nissan Patrol, not Nissan’s take on a Tahoe/Expedition/Sequoia like the last one was.

The Infiniti version is hideous, and they’re all a little bigger than the already-big Land Cruiser, but I still kinda don’t mind the Patrol/Armada for what they are. Which is a nice large capable truck, which makes no sense for most people who want to use them as minivans and would be better served by a minivan, or at least a 3-row crossover.

That looks really nice. Honestly I like them. It was bigger than my 100 series, but still smaller than the suburbans/excusions/pickups that dominate the highways.

The Armada was just introduced this year, but the Infiniti has been here for 5 years I think. They are big compared to sedans and crossovers, but not nearly as big as pickups, suburbans, expeditions, etc.

True on the size. I see Tahoes everywhere, but something about the bulbous style of the Infiniti makes it look a little more obnoxious than GM’s latest push for “cleaner” designs. I think the cowl vent just seals the “giant whale shark” appearance.

I’m with ya. Its 16" longer than my 100 series, and probably a few inches wider, but feels much bigger on the inside. There is a fair chance I’ll look at them on the used market, especially if they do a Pro-4x version. Hell, if ARB imports their Patrol catalog I’ll be sold.

Oh the infiniti is absolutely hideous. It looks like a beluga whale to me. One of the ugliest vehicles on the road. However, I like the look of the Armada.

The current Expedition - not the new one that’s coming out this fall - is an awfully nice armchair to drive. Plus the 3.5 EB pulls pretty hard.

I was shocked at how hard it pulls when I drove it this morning. It seems big, but at the same time, the driver’s cockpit seems small. I think it’s because of how far the a-pillar grab-handle projects into the driver’s space. If this were mine, that handle would be the first thing to go away.
