It’s a ditch witch. Basically it drills horizontal underground holes for utilities. Looks like the people running it messed up and it came up out of the ground and hit the explorer.

yeah... the company my wife works for uses those “steerable” horizontal drilling rigs for utility work. It does seem odd they wouldn’t have just shut the thing off when it came up in the road off to the right there...

I think it’s supposed to be that they were boring for some utility or construction, went to far and cut right into the front of the Explorer.
The footage is so fucking terrible, that we cant’ see anything right of the camera.
That windshield is also suspect. It looks like black sheet metal. It could be a sunshade on the outside, or some weird reflection, but that’s when I gave up because it was so shitty.
We are wasting smartphones on the dumbest people.
