Finally done what I could consider my phase 1 mods. Wheels and tint. Got my car tinted today, just up to the legal limit 35% all the way. This is my first car that I got legal tint on, which is weird, but its nice to not be in a fish bowl anymore.
Phase II probably won’t happen for a while but that will be things like Golf R headlights/Taillights, Crossbars for the roof, and maybe a tune. Besides that I don’t plan on any other mods that are not functionality related.

I wish I could do tint. Last car I had that was tinted got all scratched up by dogs (especially by my Lily who likes to put her toes on the sill)

I like the aesthetic and practical effects of tint, the only issue is chicks can’t check me out through the tint.

Am I weird in that I don’t want window tint? I always hear from people that swear by it, but never from people like me that prefer not to tint their cars. That’s probably because most of us non-tint people just don’t do it and don’t talk about it, haha.

Anywhere south of the Mason-Dixon (or if you have a wagon/van/SUV with lots of glass), it can be a lifesaver if you’re outside much. But when I had my old car, which was Pine Green with light tan interior, I didn’t want tint because it was such a nice color combo to enjoy.

Any chance that the lights can be switched out for the new LED ones, maybe even euro spec?

I wouldnt touch a tune ... if you care about that 11 year warranty anyways
i do however have a plugged in “tune box” from this company called DTUK
5 mins install, completely undetectable if unplugged.
my TDI felt quicker, some people on different forums says its a placebo, do your own research / conclusion.
I am happy with mine

I generally dislike dark tint because I don’t want to hide behind dark windows. Because it makes you look like a dick, and gives cops an excuse to pull you over. I did however get 50% tint on my car and I think it’s perfect if you don’t like dark tint.
You can still see into the car but it cleans up the look a ton. At some point I’ll probably have a mostly clear (like 70% or 80%) 3M crystalline film done on the windshield to help keep the car cooler when it’s parked.

You can still be seen through 50% tint.

Yeah, I have always enjoyed as much light as possible in my vehicles. Which is now always fine because I don’t get hangovers anymore. Not because I found the cure, but by just not drinking so much I get one. Sorry, lol.

Yeah I used to really prefer really dark tint but I agree it kinda makes you look like a dick, In my picture it looks much darker than it is because of the black interior and the sunshade is out on my windshield

I have heard about that tuner, I only say maybe for a tune, I don’t really feel like it needs to be faster on account of the fact that is it a diesel wagon, but I’ve always liked the idea of the extra power with no hardware modifications
