This morning I went to the dedication and ribbon cutting for a project I worked on. I got to hear the mayor speak and a bunch of other people. There is always ‘that guy’ who can;t keep the speech short and simple. It was a surprise to see this many people but I finally got to see the table I built in its final setting. The used the biggest pair of scissors I’ve ever seen to cut the ribbon.

Bob has a very nice kitchen, but that table is just amazing!

Nice looking table!

My wife was invited to the ribbon cutting for one of the projects she was working on when she left the company.

She declined.

Nice table! But the tiny wheels contrast a bit with the sturdiness of the table. Then again, they probably hold more than I imagine

Who’s Bob and why is this his kitchen?*

*safe to assume this is not Mr. Belcher’s new, upscale dining experience sans burgers, no?

the wheels are actually pretty beefy and had a good amount of wight to them. I wish I had gone with black wheels tho. it looked better red when the table top was going to be blue.

I was part of a ribbon-cutting on a housing development, where we set up this gigantic “ribbon” with a banner in the middle, tied between two excavators. I got to drive one of the excavators and the idea was to just rotate them opposite each other to snap the rope holding the whole setup together. Rather than listen to me and make it just *barely* strong enough to hold together, someone made it absurdly strong where it was supposed to break and it just ended up snapping the rope on one end by the bucket of the excavator. (sad trombone)... but driving an excavator was fun.

that sounds like a good setup to have the rope whip across the crowd and decapitate half the audience final destination style.

apparently he was a city employee who retired after like 50 years or something. I think they dedicated this for all his hard work or something.

if you want expensive scissors the drop-forged shears used to cut carbon fiber are pretty pricey

I guess it had to be on wheels for compliance issues.

Table looks great though. Fits right along the curvature.

that panel is not a panel anymore. i think it may still be used as a junction box, but its done to conserve space. we did that so they could pull it out for cooking lessons and push it to the side when not in use

I figured there was a good explanation for it. It’s the only thing that really pops out at me as today I’m working in a place that makes the Finish dishwasher tablets and in an industrial setting it’s normal to have markings on walls and floors.
