Makes me wonder... At what point should these conversations be considered “done”? You can’t help that there’s going to be newcomers to the site all the time who want to participate...
I know I’ve seen some posts that had their timestamps reset to bring them back up to the front page (happens a lot on Kotaku, usually with a little note to say when this article was originally published). Clearly the editor/author wants more people to see it, who might have missed it before.
Is there a point at which an article should be totally rewritten as a new post to start new conversations? ...risking the inevitable “but we already talked about this; don’t you remember your own posts?”.

I share my own posts sometimes when I want more people to see them, but yeah, at a certain point it’s done.

Yeah, but I don’t think I’ve seen you re-share a post that’s more than like a week old. (TBH, I bump some of my posts too, just because I think they get buried too quickly sometimes.)
But -using Kotaku as an example again- some of those posts have been around for three years, or more. Sometimes I don’t even notice, and jump right into the comments. But when I do notice, I find myself avoiding anything more than a month old.
I guess there’s not really anything wrong with participating in old conversations, but the discussion won’t be as lively, that’s for sure. Handing out stars is one thing, but if you have, say, a question that hadn’t been asked yet, then whoever receives the notification is probably going to be the only one to see it.
