Why does Gasbuddy or any other site that I can easily find not list E85 prices??
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
My truck is flexfuel and I wanna run the cheapest E85 dammit. I paid $2.05gal for it last week, but drove past some places out of my way that had it for $1.75!!

Per mile, yes, always. Also has better lubrication qualities so it’s better for bearing life.

Well in the end, it’s your car so do as you please with it. Just tossing that bit of knowledge out there. I use to work in engine design so i’m probably more concerned about such things than a normal human should be.

Gasbuddy is all user-reported data, and there’s a lot less people out there buying E85.

I was surprised to see the price on the signs at some stations.... you’d think though if the user is reporting on regular they might as well fill in ALL the blanks. I would.

No but it does contribute, mostly to piston ring wear though honestly Stop/Start tech is probably worse.

that I totally see how constant low pressure starts would reek havoc on bearings.
Hopefully the new 50V tech will add an electric oil pump to alleviate that.

There are also a number of coatings that help. The Stop / Start version of the Chrysler Pentastar V6 uses a coating on the rod bearings that pretty much stops all wear. Can’t remember what it is called but it’s amazing. There is also spray bore liners for cylinder bores. It is an almost diamond hard coating deposited onto the bore using plasma. We tested engines with it and after 150,000 miles you could still see the honing marks in the bores. Basically the tech is there but it costs extra so if the durability is ‘good enough’ without it then it’s produced without it. But that’s everything in automotive
