Bleaching the tires is cheating. I could do burn outs on my tractor if I bleached the tires.

You say that like it is a bad thing.

Growing up my father owned many tractors from many makes. We always agreed the green and yellow ones were the best.

Their subcompact utility tractors aren’t really that good. It’s a 2305 and I’ve been unimpressed with it. The snowblower is a piece of junk, and I managed to blow up the PTO clutch either from snow blowing or from running a 4' brush hog.

The local Deere dealer service is terrible. They just got bought by a big regional chain, so that may change in the near future. There is a local dealer with excellent service that started selling Kioti tractors a few years ago. So far reviews on those have been excellent. Some day I’ll trade in the little Deere on a 35ish hp tractor with a cab and there is about 90% chance it’ll be a Kioti.

The older compact utilities from the 90s (3 digit series) were pretty good for what they were. For small machines, they were capable and reliable. They aren’t big-boy tractors though. Most of my experience is with machines much older than I am, and a few older than my father.

The local Deere dealer service is terrible.

Service isn’t so much a concern with the old-school tractors. The service manual is only a thin booklet, and a few basic wrenches are about all you need on such simple machines. The tractors built in the two-cylinder era were so over-designed with so much iron that there is very little you can break. Mostly all that needs occasional attention are seals and gaskets that fail with age.
