Kinja'd!!!

The Chevy/Holden Epica. Or Daewoo Tosca, if you so prefer. I don’t know what it is, but this is a really good looking car in my opinion. Very Saab-ish, I think that was intentional. It doesn’t look like a cheap mid-2000s Korean car.

Kinja'd!!!

The interior is standard mid-2000s GM fare. Everything plasticky and partsbin, but functional enough.

Kinja'd!!!

Come to think of it, the facelifted Kia Magentis that was around at that time was rather handsome too from the correct angles, but also was a complete pile of garbage.

Kinja'd!!!

The moral of the story? The Korean car industry has come a long way. Now they can make good-looking cars that aren’t total garbage.

Ah, the Daewoo Espero! Haven’t seen one in ages. If I recall correctly it was on the ancient Opel Ascona platform (edit: yes, it’s a GM J-body, which was retired in Europe in 1988 and somehow soldiered on until 2005 in the US) with corresponding ancient engines. I always thought it looked like a poor man’s Citroën Xantia. I do prefer its look over the Epica in the opening post, because that really did look like some kind of third world barge.

I wonder how many hundred cars used that steering wheel design, if not the same wheel.
