Kinja'd!!!

I think the Viper is pretty damn cool and would love to drive one, but even if I had millions of dollars, I don’t think it would be anywhere on a list to own. Too many other cool things to buy.

Statistically speaking, I’d say that’s the popular opinion...

Raw displacement is a niche market. I honestly think the Viper needs to go smaller-displacement screamer V10 to have a chance at revival.

I would rather this over a Viper TA (or any Viper in general):

I prefer to stay alive, thanks for asking.

We’re probably not going to see one for at least another five years. Or until Dodge gets a new owner.

Still outselling the 4C?

They have always been awesome and have always been too expensive. The reason that the corvette formula works is value.

That’s not really saying much though is it?

I can understand that. Even if I were to become rich there are lots of vehicles that I would like to experience but not necessarily own. And that goes for a lot of exotic machinery that I dream about, like a McLaren F1 or BMW M1.

This line of thinking might also explain why many racing drivers have rather mundane daily drivers, like mid-range station wagons instead of exotics, although in their case it has more to do with not needing crazy performance on the road when they already experience that on the job.

Let’s say I won the lottery. I could see myself getting a nice E21 323i, a Vanagon Westfalia and a W126 (yes, I’m stuck in the ‘80s), but not a Rolls Royce, Ferrari or 760iL. I’d like to experience those newer things, but wouldn’t want to live with them. I could even see myself with an i3, but not in an i8. I guess I’m more interested in pleasing myself than showing off to others.

I share that opinion. I would however rip the drivetrain out of one for a hot rod build.

I want a V10 Challenger. Or Charger. Both would be sweet.

I’d be torn between an old school rod based off something from a 20's or 30's Dodge and just stuffing it inside a 1963 Polara; wagon or coupe.

I respect your right to be a heretic. But I’m still gonna burn you at the stake.

In all seriousness though, IMO, if it weren’t for the Viper, the Corvette would never have gotten as good as it is. The all aluminum V10 woke a lot of people up to the idea that a pushrod engine was still a viable performance motor, Chevy included. Prior to that, they had been moving to a dual overhead cam.

And I guess for me, I was at the LA auto show as a kid when the Viper came out (shitty 90's TV show and everything), so it was always a dream car for me (and probably always will be)

I don’t think that’s an unpopular opinion.

Just got a ride in a Gen V ACR yesterday. Holy hell that car is amazing. Raw, but still surprisingly comfortable. Sounds amazing, pulls like crazy, feels special when you’re in it. A T/A is on my list to own one day.
