Am I the only one who wants to go buy some cheap shitbox, slap a junkyard turbo on it and flog it until it dies? Something like that anyways...

I have had much want to turbo a shitty car that was never offered with one.
And lower it and sticker bomb the dash and maybe exterior.

I really want a cheap, but decent E36 or E34 BMW (Note to unclevanos: I don’t want Jabbar Singh’s 525i. It’s yours to keep.)
I want to drive it around and try to bring it back to good condition.
If I find one with low enough miles, I’ll do my best to bring it back to showroom condition.

I’ve thought about it several times. My mediocre welding skills combined with my marginal fun idea budget have held me back.

we have all BEEN doing that. but a word for the wise. careful of getting attatched to the car that you are flogging to death....... so far i am into it 5 engines, two transmissions, 3 clutches on its 2nd rear diff, 12+ u joints, 4 fenders, 4 radiators, 3 fuel tanks. the second set of brakes ALL the way around. the second steering box.........on the $400 truck that i was supposed to flog to death the summer i got out of school....... i am getting another frame to put under it, and possibly a fresh cab, if i cant straighten out the cab that is here.......

It would have to be a car never ever ment for a turbo. Like an Olds.

Trouble is a project like this never actually ends up being that cheap. And then you end up with still-a-shitbox and still doesn’t make that much power but with an unrecoverable amount of money and effort poured in.
But yes, I do want to do that

Yes - the problem is finding something that will actually work. Most fuel injected cars aren’t going to be happy if you just slap a turbo on without also tuning them for it and that gets a little complicated. I’d almost rather find some oddball cheap turbo car like an early 90's Volvo and crank the boost.

This morning in Rochester Mn I saw a early 90 beige Corolla, it looked bone stock and had some rear fender rust, with a license plate that read IUPSETU. I thought “how could a Corolla be upsetting?” Until I heard it, idk what was under the hood but it was pushing some serious boost, and the guy was chirping tires in every gear. I finally got a head of it at a light and noticed a big FMIC. I really wanted to yell out the window and ask what was going on.
