“it will be fun!” they said. Yeah. Fun.
At least there’s three feet of water to cushion my fall when the step ladder I’m on—top step, of course—tumbles off the too-narrow, rickety old painters walk built in the early 70's. I’m thinking landing in a back flop would be the ideal position to minimize injury...
Wish me luck.

Better you than me! Couldn’t you just use something with a really long telescoping handle? Because there is no way that I would get up there. Good luck.

Not if I want to get it looking good, this area gets insanely dirty so everything has to be up close and personal.... Ironically the painters catwalk prevents me from just putting a massive ladder in front of the window haha

The picture make it looks like if you tried to do that, you’d end up exiting the ladder directly into the pool. You must be a lot more coordinated than I am.

Attach yourself to the roof and repel down. It may not be a good idea, but it will entertain us.

Hire some old Air Assualt guys from JBLM to teach you how to rappel from the roof lol.

Couldn’t you bring up a piece of plywood that is a little wider than the painter’s walk?

That would help, but the main problem is that the painters walk itself isn’t level, it’s tilted at an angle that makes falling towards the pool more likely the higher I climb....
Still beats plan B, which was set up a 16ft ladder on the platform!

Most of my ideas are of the “not great, but entertaining” variety

I repelled from the roof to get a window once. The top of the window was two feet out of arms reach when I was standing on the ground, and I didn’t feel like grabbing a step ladder or pole.
30 minutes later, all my harnessing gear set up, I swung down off the roof. Homeowner came out while I was in the middle of it, thought he was going to literally pass out from laughter. Good times...

Next time cut a piece of plywood wide enough for the ladder to sit on. And get a taller ladder so you can avoid the top step!

My truck is pretty packed already :/
The main issue was the angle of the catwalk. Wasn’t completely flat, so the higher higher climbed the more weight I had off center. I was considering using a a 16ft ladder instead of a step (smaller footprint) and having an employee stand on it to prevent sliding.... But I don’t want the weight of two guys up there haba

I would have noped outta there fast. I dislike climbing ladders enough without all the horror you just described.
