3rd in class! Behind a M2 and GTI. Not bad out of eight.

Mild panic ensued as during the 3rd afternoon run it refused to maintain idle. A quick oil check showed no oil. FUUUUUUCK. It’s a Subaru/import junkyard so that was my plan B.

Fortunately, it wound up being a loose vacuum line. Bullet dodged. I’m obviously burning more oil than I thought, but alls well that ends well (assuming I make it to Austin)

Edit: drinking beer on 6th street. Things are alright. I’ve tried driving home on a blown motor before, works about 5-10 miles.

Yup. It was much faster in the afternoon session after the track had been cleared. Stupid grip and horsepower making other cars faster.

Also a modded S3 and AllRoad as well.

Congrats! Glad you and the Yaris survived the crazy heat. Heck not only did you survive you got some hardware! Sorry I had to bail early. I was hoping to find you and shake the hand of the person crazy enough to run a RallyX 1,000 miles from home.

I was actually shocked at the level of new vehicles there - the M2, an S3 (I’ve only seen like 3 of them on the road total), a current allroad, multiple current generation WRX’s including an STi, and a Mk7 GTI. I mean AutoX sure, and all these cars can handle it, but usually folks aren’t bringing basically new cars to a rallycross. Edit to add - I didn’t get the best photos but I’ll do a dump tomorrow.

Yeah, that’s wild. I’ve seen a few nice DDs at rallycrosses, but never anything new or particularly valuable. Looking forward to the photodump!

I’m low key so damn relieved I wasn’t beat by an STS.
