Was literally just thinking the same thing.
Not cluttered, or busy, no overwhelming number of knobs and buttons. Simplicity and function, trimmed out with a tasteful amount of (admittedly fake) chrome, and a very nice grained wood (probably also fake).
The exterior ain’t too shabby, either. They’ve taken the Mazda CUV/SUV design cues that I appreciate, and honestly done them a bit better.

Any idea what the price and real-world fuel economy will be for the hybrid version?
My parents are looking to downsize from a Sequoia to a smaller SUV. I’ve been pushing for the XC60, but they still think of Volvo as a second-rate Audi, and refuse to believe the 50mpg figure from the press release.

XC60 prices vary insanely. T8 wasn’t really made to be a eco hybrid. Like Lexus since forever, Volvo’s hybrid system are for performance (400hp!!!) but low 20's can be achieved in the city on our T8 XC90 for sure.

Timely...I just visited the Volvo dealer for the first time in about 12 years. Last test drive was an S60R :D
Quick take (using the new V90 Cross Country as a proxy for the whole line): Beautiful cars, inside and out. Everything they make looks great now. Original designs, unmistakable. Nice power out of the 4-banger, but you still know you’re driving a 4-banger. I think I’m going to skip the whole trend and wait for electric. It just sounds too cheap and tinny, and throttle mapping off the line is very awkward with 8 gears and a bit of turbo lag. Amazing seats and all the materials were solid, albeit a wee bit too Spartan for $60k...IMHO. Not minimalist, I just mean a little cheap.
Downside: Ergonomics. I just felt...nothing. I wanted to reach for dials and knobs, but it’s all screens and voice commands. The entire dash is digital. The HUD is cool, but disappears with polarized glasses on. In short, I didn’t feel like I was driving a car, I felt like the car was driving me. It’s hard to describe, but it’s there — and to be fair to Volvo, I felt much of the same even in the Golf Sportwagen I tested recently, so maybe it’s a symptom of most modern cars — too many electronics, too much learning curve. I’m neither young nor old, but I just don’t imagine anyone is going to like this.
Still, if the price is right in a couple years, a CPO V60 or XC60 could be a strong contender.

Only car made in China that is sold in the US is the long wheel base S60.
S60 will soon also be made in the US
As a whole, Volvo is finally as Swede as ever.... thanks to China’s money :]
