The S10 greeted me with this today:

Kinja'd!!!

I don’t know of anyone that can pull ABS codes off of something this old, either. The truck is a ‘95 but was built in the fall of ‘94. I’m guessing it’s OBD 1 or OBD 1.5.

This is likely one of the wheel speed sensors gone bad.

Is it really a GM vehicle if the ABS light never comes on?

True. The brake warning light isn’t on, so I know it’s not an issue with fluid or pressure. So it has to be a stupid sensor somewhere. I kept turning the truck off and on again hoping the light would go away. No dice.

The solution is to buy cars with no ABS

I wish this one didn’t have it. It has all the early first year things for this bodystyle S10. Airbag and ABS. The ‘94s had neither of those.

Kinja'd!!!

Looks like you’re trying to pull codes on a pre-OBDII Chevy. Can I help?

10/10 a wheel speed sensor. Your truck may only have rear abs too, my 90 Isuzu only has rear abs, but your truck is after the chevy Isuzu split.

The ABS light on my old S10 is on now for a wheel speed sensor. I’d bet it’s that on yours too.

Given its a beater, I’d personally just live with it.

Don’t discount checking the fluid level. The ABS on my old Mazda will throw a code if the fluid level is too low, even if it isn’t low enough for the brake warning light. Topping it off is cheap....

New speed sensor is $41.00 on RockAuto. I’ll probably go ahead and replace it. I wish I could figure out whic one it is, though.
