Kinja'd!!!

Looks like an old tyre with all that surface cracking between the treads right? This tyre is barely over a year old. I went for the £33 “economy” option after a puncture and received a “Nereus Sailfish.” Surprisingly it actually grips better than the continental I had on before but those were low roll resistance eco things. I currently have 3 different brands of tyre on this car, the two rears are 7 years old. All have totally different tread levels (all legal though). Don’t be like me.

Here I am feeling bad about having a single Goodyear Eagle F1 and three Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and you are out there being a madman like this.

Two continental eco things in the back, one just about needing replacement, one okay (used to be the spare tyre, fitted permanently about a year ago). The sailfish and another terrible economy brand on the front. The other economy tyre is newish. I drove the Nurburgring with this set up XD.

A full sized spare? I’m jelly. I got a hilarious 18" space saver to complement my 17" wheels.

Yeah full size, cheaper to do when your car wears 14" steelies though haha.

I genuinely can’t fit a 225/45r17 in the spare wheel recess I remember when I had my first car (1988 Polo) I bought a set of mk1 Golf GTI Tarantulas for 30 quid and got a 5th for 3 quid so I had a set of 5 matching alloys, new tyres were sub 40 quid each too!

Clearly it’s the track time overheating the rubber...

I’ve got a real mix on due to punctures at the minute. My work car park is shared with an electricians and I think a lot of screws fall out their vans.

Maybe once I’ve got a set of wheels refurbed I can get fully matching set.

Thats the big advantage of the tiny wheels, dirt cheap tyres.

On stuff like my car I don’t really believe mismatched rubber has that much effect. I don’t really worry about it too much.
