The pictures are terrible, and the price seems questionably low. But it certainly has my attention. Still, if I was gonna spend $2200, it should go towards the Raider and/or the Volvo.
And yet I still want this....

Show me some photos of the Volvo, and I will talk you down.

Nice price, but do it for the love of the car, there’s little upside.
I don’t know about that “mint” interior, but it looks serviceable for the price - not original, however. The car really needs a cut and polish.
My first car, or really, the first car I drove regularly (it was never legally mine) was a 66 Galaxie with the same body and engine. It’s a big car. It’s a thirsty car.

Oooh, buy it!
(Someone’s gotta play Devil’s advocate, and when it comes to classic American stuff, that somebody is me!)

If you love the Volvo go that route. It’s probably worth more and you already have it and it looks better. Plus it’s easier to store

I’ve just always wanted a full size 60s american car. The car itself isn’t even that important, I just have some image I want to fulfill of bombing around with some friends in a big old boat. A bit beat, but not too beat. It doesn’t exactly jive with living in a basement suite with minimal street parking, high insurance prices, and even higher gas prices.

Much easier to store. That Mercury is bigger than the shed that the Volvo is in. Ideally I’d have enough space for even more cars so I wouldn’t have to choose...

Go where your passion lives. For me it’s all things ford/Lincoln/Mercury and that Park Lane is a great start for a project at a good price. My wife would kill me otherwise it would be in my garage next to my 73 mustang.

If that interior is “mint”, “solid” probably means repairable rust and“good running” probably means it moves under its own power.

This is as good as any, and it has some style - I’d want to go over it closely to see if it is roadworthy. This isn’t worth a fortune even if mint, so one can go overboard if it has needs.
That image might work better in a smaller city/town though yeah. Hard to bomb around in gridlock, and then where to park something of this mass? This will be a bear to store and to keep fueled up.

So I’m guessing ‘71, 144S, 2 carbs, 4 spd manual. And safer than that Merc, so what’s the issue? FIX THE VOLVO.

‘69 144S, converted to a single Weber 32/36, 4 speed.
Yeah, it’s the better one to go with. I mean I bought it for the second time after regretting selling it a few years ago, so it seems meant to be. It won’t be cheap, but I’ll get her going again one of these days
