Depends what you’re looking for. A cheap porsche is rarely cheap.

Make sure IMS is done.

I thought the IMS issue only affected the 911?

Saw this on the way to get bagels this morning - I’ll leave a note on it for you if you want.
Suppose this goes to show that it could be a whole lot worse.

Unless things have changed recently, the inventory at that dealer is rarely as good as it may seem in photographs.

Nope, 986 too. That being said the failures usually happened at lower mileage. Do some reading, its not near as bad as general car culture makes it out to be. I had 2 so did a lot of reading going into it. I loved the cars, minus the headlights and interior is ugly as shit (but well made and very functional). We may buy another soon, I miss mine

Not that great of a price, especially for a single row IMS. Would probably be much better off getting a private party car (pre-purchase inspected, of course) and then dropping an extra $3k into preventative maintenance (IMS bearing, A/O separator, RMS, etc.).

Yeah, I would argue that at that price you’re better off getting a really nice Miata. It’s a similar experience (with less power) and better reliability / cheap to fix.

My friend in Hong Kong got a 987, his records show he had it done as well.

I would argue it’s not quite a similar experience because of the power, but the cost of ownership argument wins every time.

Yeah and the engine is in a different spot but a 986 boxster isn’t exactly blowing anyone’s doors off.
