My STi has the Subaru short shifter, but not the stiffer rear bushing. The shifter feels good how it is and is one of the reasons I chose the car, but there is some slop. The 2-3 shift is tough when driving fast, and on the track I mis-shifted into 6th (luckily).
Will stiffer bushings alleviate this problem? They aren’t that expensive, so are there any potential drawbacks? If my bushings are stiff for more than 4 hours, will I need to call a doctor?

Good to know that you can finance those bushings from $12/mo.

I got the Energy Suspension poly shift bushings for my LGT, it made a pretty big difference in terms of removing slop and “rubberyness” of the shifter.
Though I still have some slop in the u-joint, and that’s still bugging me, and I really wish it felt more mechanical still, but I’m picky like that.

I installed them on my WRX are they definitely firmed up the shifter feel a bit. It alleviated the “bowl of marbles” feel a bit.

Thank you. My bank of inside jokes doesn’t quite go that far back.

I’ve had the kart boy ones on my WRX for quite a while now. Definitely firmed everything up but I also have about every drivetrain and shift bushing and mounts upgraded so it’s not the best comparison.

They might. I replaced the bushings in my RSX way back when which significantly improved shift feel, but those bushings were inside the shift assembly itself.

Second on the Kartboy bushings. The short shifter makes a difference, but the hard bushings took all the slop out of the shifter for me (had an eagle-eye ‘06, YMMV).
