TL:DR It did bad in the last small overlap crash, Tesla “fixed” it, and it did WORSE.

I was thinking maybe the passengers can fall out from between the panel gaps.

Way to go Lincoln! Gotta say, been really impressed with what they’ve been doing lately. Phenomenal job with the Continental.
The Benz and Avalon aren’t really a surprise to do so well, and the older Taurus and Impala...kinda expected them to not do that well.

Pretty sure that’s the backup plan for when those falcon doors fail shut.

Remember 2015 or so, when Tesla bragged about being the safest car you could buy? They assigned themselves some BS 5.3 stars out of 5 for safety? Yeeeeeaaaaahhhhh, so, Lincoln - fucking LINCOLN - makes a safer car than tesla according to the same safety boards. Eat it, Elon!
.....That being said I do hope they fix it for real and make a better tesla.

I’m not as pissed about the bad score as I am about their shitty PR response. Most automakers are eating humble pie and rushing to fix their poor performing cars. Tesla is pretty arrogant in this case.

To be fair, if used properly all the technical doo-dadderies should prevent you from even GETTING into a small overlap collision... so if Elon is banking on that he’s got a point.
But still, not every collision can be avoided, so please make the car safer Elon.
