If the ramp workers knew how valuable these little boxes are there might have been a theft problem. However, the market for used and undocumented avionics for a particular type of aircraft is somewhat limited, to say the least. And it’s not terribly difficult to figure out where they came from, right down to the airframe.
Given the value of these things they’d be in for some serious jail time. Perhaps this is why they just stuck to pilfering cameras and iPads from customers’s luggage instead...
