That’s disturbing.

(Day theme as in French cinema, teddy bears or twisted childhood?)

Still disturbing but much easier to deal with.

Of course real stuffed animals would be several orders of magnitude worse.

Hendeles’ project then? And they let you take pictures of the installation??

Good eye!

It was part of a great exhibition at the New Museum last year. http://oppositelock.kinja.com/keep-oppo-artsy-1784609420

Well, that first image is so powerful (for want of a better word) that I had to find out where it had come from. Interestingly it has been used to promote Agnès Varda’s film on Hendeles and her project/collection/installation.

It seems you’ve been through a bit of a French phase during all your adult life, so you may find it of interest.

I still find the pictures rather unsettling. Original idea though.

I’ll have to check that out.

The installation is really incredible.

Kinja'd!!!

It was deeply unsettling how often something innocent could be juxtaposed with horrible things.

I bet Varda’s film is interesting. Never seen anything she did, I think although “Cléo de 5 à 7”, “Sans toit ni loi” and “L’une chante, l’autre pas” had good reviews, I seem to remember.

Overlapping innocence and evil (or tragedy) always works pretty well because it affects us on two different and seemingly opposing planes. A sort of oxymoron of emotions.
