Seen maybe a dozen of these cars in my life - here, one example was slowly destroyed, and one will bring great joy to its owner.

Always thought these were among the coolest things on the road ....

I found a real nice 560 SEL back when I still had the 4Runner and wanted to go check it out as a replacement, but my dad flaked on me and said I’d have to make due.

Too bad comments are disabled on the first one, I bet the internet peanut gallery was up in arms - people who cry about the fate of a car, but won’t do anything to stop it. Many of these cars can’t be feasibly saved, they are enormous complex money pits, and once past a certain point, take Scrooge McDuck’s vault to bring back to proper condition. Definitely a case of buying the best one you can afford, a dollar saved will be ten dollars spent later on.

I knew Kent Bergsma when he still operated a shop and took normal walk-in customers. He did some work on my fintail over the years, and also on a W126 I used to own.

Yeah - on that first car not only the sheer neglect, but a bad RHD conversion. It is, sadly, barely a parts car.

Yeah, not much of value other than maybe some 6.9 specific bits. But someone got their money’s worth, the car lived a good life.

Oh Kent, I get stuff from him. His stories from being a bush pilot in PNG are nuts. He has some stuff on his site and a video I think. They were writing a book.
