I could use some help and recommendations on ways and how to meet new people. We can also chat about other stuff too.

Meeting people is weird when you’re not in school or at work. For example, I go to the gym, and there’s one guy (no clue what his name is) who always comes by and asks how I’m doing, how my workout is going, et cetera. And there’s another dude who comes by and gives me exercise advice that he learned during his eleven years in a maximum security penitentiary.
I should probably find a hobby club or something to make more friends.
Anyway, different question: if you were given the money to buy a Camaro, what would you get?

My advice would be to find a hobby that requires interacting with other people: join a pickup basketball league at your local gym, go to the local C&C and talk to the owners of cars you really dig, volunteer at an animal shelter, anything like that. That way the whole social interaction thing is kind of secondary to whatever it is you’re actually doing so it happens more naturally than just like forcing yourself to talk to people at a bar or whatever (which isn’t itself a bad idea, but if you’re an introverted wallflower like I am that’s pretty much the most terrifying thing I can think of).

I guess so. I went to one (it was a pub) a couple weekends ago with friends, and as I walked past the bar, I don’t think I saw a single person who looked my age, but I guess that happens. Heck, I don’t think anyone looked to be in their 20s.

I don’t like the idea of spending money on a gym membership so I exercise at home, in my neighborhood and at school. I’ve had a tough time getting up for C&C with my work schedule but I’m gonna try to make it tomorrow if it doesn’t rain. I haven’t tried much in the way of volunteering and I like cats so that’s something I could try that’s new.

Don’t worry, everyone will no you’re at least 21. The great thing about bars is you just gotta start talking to someone, anyone, and then who knows.
I remember I stopped in New Mexico while I was moving to Texas and started talking to some 40 year old dude at the bar and one thing lead to another and by the end of the night I was talking with a smoking hot grad student from the nearby university.

Yeah. Every conversation about cars with my dad ends with “but I’m not going to buy one because even if I can afford the price of entry, upkeep is the real killer”.
Which will explain why I’ll be driving my girlfriend’s Elantra GT until I get my student loans paid off.
If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the big driver behind costs? Or is it just a whole bunch of little stuff adding up?

Definitely not. I don’t like loud places personally. I was taken to a club once, I wanted to leave within the first 10 minutes but that wasn’t happening. My ears were ringing for the next day or two. I would much prefer something more quiet and conversation-friendly like a coffee shop.

Dude hit up your nearest animal shelter then, they’re are always in need of extra workers even if it’s just like for a night or two a week. How quick you can get involved kinda depends on the shelter you look into (the Humane Society has a pretty complicated application process but the privately-owned shelter I volunteered at was just like “fuck it, come in off the street and help”) but once you actually get in it’s a great way to help out the community while still doing something for yourself.

It’s all the little things: the engineering and most of the testing that to me seems unbearably frustrating and useless for the littlest of parts. Seriously, if you saw ho much engineering, testing, and time was spent on a fraking tow kick (AKA something no one but engineers will look for or at) for the interior, you’d look like this. Unfortunately or fortunately, I did yesterday.

Fair enough. I think I went to a concert with my mum when I was real young but I can’t remember. I do enjoy a good orchestra though. It’s tragic because I get so invested in the beauty of the music that it puts me to sleep so it’s a challenge to stay awake at the same time as listening to the magic of string instruments.

I stopped going to clubs ages ago. Being squeezed in next to a bunch of sweaty people on God knows what drugs isn’t exactly fun after a while. I can do a mildly loud bar, though, because it’s a bar...people are usually loud when they’re drinking.

First, we’re going to a hockey camp in Montreal for my son. Then, to a property I still own in NY in a tiny little hamlet called Hannawa Falls. It’s where I spent my first 24 years. My wife and son are flying, I wanted to road trip. On my return trip, I really have no schedule. I’m leaving NY on the 22nd, and don’t have to be back in CO until the 27th. The road trip will be nearly what I average in annual mileage on the truck!

I’m alive, so that’s good. The 924 will be towed to a shop on Wednesday and work has been rather busy. I think I may’ve burned myself out trying to exercise as hard as I possibly could three days this week by the end of it so I must do a better job of planning.
I did get an internship, but it’s local. They did fly me out there for two weeks of training though. It was a fun and eye-opening adventure.

3 Doberman and 5 Chihuahua :] All 8 splitting homes here in Houston and CDMX going back and fourth often.
I was watching the one for the Lotus Evora a year ago on TV and it made me furious lol. Knowing how much of a pain it is to do big work in them and seeing the factory workers care less about building the thing. I was yelling at the TV a couple time lol. Especially when they were setting the main CEM wiring harness, rear clam and A/C lines.

I started when I was sixteen because it made the buzz of smoking weed more elevated. Then it kind of turned into “Damn it, I could go for a cigarette” feeling. First thing I do when I wake up is light up a ciggy and get my day going. It’s become more of a thing I just do. Drinking and smoking is nice, too.

I work for Futuris Automotive Group. They used to be headquartered in Australia, but we know how the industry is doing there so they moved about 15 minutes from my house. For now I’m just a regular engineering intern trying to help anywhere and any way I can.
