So since I got a flat rear tire yesterday while my car sat parked at work, I decided the fronts looked good and I was just going to do the rears. So I decided to stick with the Nitto NT555 G2s I have since I like them

But this morning we get the new tires in at work and I look and them and knew right then and there I needed to do the fronts too. So those will not be here till Monday. So the new ones are going on the rear wheels on the front and the front wheels and tires are going on the rear so I can burn them off this weekend. It’s going to be lots of fun! I will video.

Working with tires as part of my job you can tell quality from feeling the inside. And I was suprised to feel the inside of the Nittos were as nice as Michelins. THough the big difference is Michelins are smooth on the inside as are other higher quality tires. But these are great tires and I like them.

How is the life on them and can they be used in the winter? Also how good is the traction for say racing on prepped, non prepped, and streets.

I put a set on my Dakota RT and I’m really happy with them so far, even in the wet. My first set of nittos back many years ago were not so good, but I guess that’s what a decade of tire development will do for a company. I almost thought about a set of these for my S8 as well, but ended up with a better deal on some pirellis. But a good tire. It’ll be interesting to see how long they last, but for my truck, they will likely age out before they wear out as I don’t drive it as much.

They hook pretty good on my truck and it’s a truck with little weight over the rear wheels.

Life was really good. I think I got around 25k miles on them and I drive my car pretty hard and like to smoke now and then ;). I used them in CA winter. They worked great and were very nice in the rain. As for very cold weather that isn’t something I tested, but I would say they should work for limited use.

I have not done any track time on these, but here is a very nice w rite up on them in that respect. As for street use they are great for your favorite back road and canyon without having to switch to an even stickier tire for fun and then back to a road tire for driving. I suggest them for any fun DD car that you want to use for lots of miles and fun driving.

Put the old fronts on the rear and give them a viking funeral. That’s what I do with my GTO when I need new tires.

Looking forward to seeing it. The only burnout I’ve ever done was right before I traded my GTO in. I need to dig out that picture one of these days.

I recall that 4 matching tires is a good feeling ...

*eye twitch* traded in?!

Really? I love the durn out. The Fiero did ok, the Jeep only ever happened in the rain and dirt. Never did try in my Suburban, but it was an auto, and I didn’t really care to try in that thing.

Yeah, I think we’ve talked about mine before. It was a lemon that spent 31 days in the shop in the 3-1/2 months I owned it. Luckily it was a CPO car with a factory warranty, so it didn’t cost me any money. I was about to take a new job in a new town where I knew nobody, so I needed something reliable. I traded it in on the Sierra I’m still driving 11 years later.
