Kinja'd!!!

Now that “Silicon Valley” and “Veep” have had their season finales, I’ve needed anotherTV show to occupy my time with, so I’ve gone back and started watching my favorite “Roadkill” episodes again, as well as ones I missed. Having just seen the Crop Duster episode again, I realize that was my favorite car. I love the simple sort of look it has, as well as the fact that most anyone could build a badass looking eleven - second drag car out of easily found parts for under $20,000. Plus, the ‘80's Street Car vibe with a big block is exactly how I’d build a Duster.

Also, does anyone have the exact lowdown on the General Mayhem vs. Gas Monkey pissing war? From a Jalopnik article I found, it seems like Gas Monkey brought an actual drag car and driver to the event, which wasn’t really in the spirit of it.

I like the Crusher Camaro most, in either of the 70s forms.

As for the GMG vs RK mess, just don’t bother. It was a dark time.

I have seen less than half so far. I saw what was on Netflix, and now I’m watching the show on YouTube to get caught up. I really like the muscle truck so far. I just watched an episode where they put a Cummins in a Caddy which I like simply because I can see myself doing something similar.

That tiff with gas monkey was a literal shit show. roadkill didn’t even build their car. gas monkey did, but ignored the rules.

Fav car/episode has to be the lowrider. few things have made me laugh as hard as this bit:

My favorite episode is when they build Stubby Bob to pull wheelies. My four year old loves that episode too. “Can we watch the wheelie truck Roadkill?” She’ll ask me. Although it was cuter before she learned to say wheelie, she would hold her arms up in the air and ask, “Can we watch the Roadkill where the truck goes ROOOAAAAAAWWWWWRRRRRR!!!?” It was the cutest freaking thing ever.

I also go crazy for the Muscle Truck and General Mayhem, and I desperately want to build a Vette-Kart like theirs. Roadkill is my favorite show of any kind anywhere, hands down.

I have a soft spot for General Mayhem and General Maintenance. I really love that they did the latter up to look like the former.

Honorable mention for the Draguar, Subarute (it showed up in one of their episodes and I loved it, even though it was an MCM build, I think of the cars more as characters than as belonging to someone; if they were a star, they were a Roadkill car in my mind), Rotsun, and Raunchero, all of which I find extremely endearing in their own ways.

The pure drag cars never excite me as much... Drag racing is boring, worse than even NASCAR.

Definitely thought the Vettecart was the best use of an old Corvette that I’ve ever seen... I thought about it but didn’t put it on my list. So many fun cars that it’s hard to pick favorites.

My buddy and I had a discussion about this recently. My favorite episodes are the ones where there is a clearly defined goal that they realize (either with victory or defeat). So the Muscle Truck episodes, Mazdarati runs 10s, Elco Engine Swap, the build on Finn’s 55, etc I think are great.

The Boost Caboose, although a really cool build, fell flat for me because they didn’t do anything with it. Burnouts on a quiet road don’t give me the satisfaction that a road trip, time slip, or other tangible goal does. Without it the episode just seems unfinished.

That being said, I love the show and the guys. Been a MTOD sub for quite awhile now.

Oh man I didn’t think about the Stubby Bob episode. Yeah, that’s my favourite one. Coming closely behind that is the Vette-kart, General Mayhem, Crop Duster, any Draguar one, the one with that ratty Challenger oval-track racer and maybe that one with the Plymouth they pull out of a junkyard.

I’ll always have a soft spot for Stubby Bob because that generation of Ford is one of my all time favorites, I own two of them, and the Stubby Bob t-shirt, but my favorite has got to be the Rotsun. If you had to sum up Roadkill in one car, the Rotsun is that car. Second would probably be the Jeep rod, followed by the ramp truck.

Edit: thought you said cars.

Favorite Episodes: Stubby Bob Wheelie, Rotsun Lemons race, Jeep Rod, Nascarlo

Love the stubby bob ep, it’s just so unbelievable. Not sure about cars though. As a non American I don’t really grasp all the little things they fuss over. Like preferring a 68 jeep over a 65 because of some slight crease in the fender. It’s all lost on me.
