Looking for advice on
My Craigslist Ad
. I’m going to repost it soon and looking for advice on how to make the ad better.
I’ve been trying to sell my Mazda B2300 on CL for a few weeks now with very few nibbles. I listed it higher than I will let it go for trying to head off the lowballers. Is it still priced too high? Are the pictures bad? Do people just not love small trucks like I do?!

problems i see
1. no thumb in pic covering number plate
2. not in ALL CAPS
3. lack of dodgy spelling
4. no classic CL speak “no lowballs i know what i got” etc

Hey neighbor! (Milwaukee area resident here) I think you’re ad is fine, you could maybe add more details like if anything has been replaced recently. I don’t think the price is too high, I think you’re just going to have a hard time finding a buyer around here. Most people don’t want RWD, manual, or a small pickup (we jalops aren’t most people unfortunately). You probably will just need to wait for the right buyer

Overall I think it’s a fine ad. A few thoughts:
If you take any more pictures, I’d pull the truck outside into the daylight.
Could you be more specific about the moderate rust? Is it just on body panels or is it on the frame?
Weren’t these trucks the same as the Ford Ranger? Mentioning that in the ad might help it show up for people searching specifically for Rangers.
Does it get good gas mileage? If so, that’s a selling point that you may want to add.

Looks pretty good to me. Shows the vehicle, no hyperbole, and even in the little you’ve written, you can see you genuinely care about both the truck and your potential buyers.

Take pictures of it outside. Maybe pull it out of the garage and close the door. The lighting in the garage isn’t the best.
Change moderate rust to some rust.
Neat little truck. Would be a great 1st car.

Not to be rude, but:
- Great truck, I’ll definitely miss it! ==> I don’t care, I need a truck, not your life story.
- Moderate rust on exterior ==> where? How bad?
- Photos are okay, but could use some better lighting, try taking outside pictures on a moderately sunny day. interior pictures are kind of dark.
- Do you have a service history? Mention it if you do.
When I look at an ad, I want the facts, good pictures so I have a good idea of what I am looking at. I won’t go check out a car if I’m not sure to buy it if it reflects what I saw in the ad.
It’s not bad, but could be better

Hi friend! That’s kinda what I was feeling too, I didn’t think I botched the ad at all... But yea, people don’t love small trucks around here, I was so excited when I got it and never thought about needing to resell it. I’ve had a few lowballers, a few scams and 3 people that actually came to look at it. I’ll just keep reposting it every once in a while until it finds a good home.

the ad should try answer the questions buyers should be asking. If I were to add some items:
- VIN, so they can run a history before calling you
- picture of gauge cluster while vehicle is at idle, to show lack of CEL
- pictures of engine bay
- picture or two of under car - honestly hard to take well though.
- any recent work, or list of any concerns. As a buyer, if a vehicle needs brakes soon that changes the value by $200.
- reason for selling, people always ask.
otherwise looks good. Price seems fair (for my area at least).

This is good, I appreciate your candidness. I’ll work on the wording in the new ad and try to get nicer pictures, the originals were taken inside the garage while it was raining.

Good to know, CL has a place to input the VIN but I skipped over it.
But do people really care about why you’re selling it? The only reason I think they care is to decide how quick it needs to be sold so they can lowball you.

It’s perfectly acceptable to mention related vehicles in the ad, just don’t be that guy who lists every vehicle at the bottom so it comes up in every search.

Yeah this seems to be the most important part and possibly explains the lack of interest in this ad... I had all my contact info there for the first ad but must’ve forgot to add when I reposted it the first time.
