I really wish it was available as a download in Xbox, but the oldest NFS game you can download is Carbon, which was the first one in a long progression of shitty NFS games.

I tried to go back to Carbon recently. The handling was changed just enough from MW to feel totally wrong. My only gripe with Most Wanted is the lack of classic muscle, but mods fix that.

I’m not even into BMWs. I normally couldn’t care less about them (no offense to those who like them). But I want the M3 from this game. It’s just so fucking cool. Though the E46 has grown on me. Just because of this game.

None taken. I can see how they’re not for everyone. The funny thing is the M3 featured in this game was shrouded in mystery until a few years back when BMW took it with them to Car Week. I was fortunate enough to see one in the flesh. The story goes that only 5 ever made it to production when the motorsport program rules were changed and the homologation requirement never needed to be satisfied since the car wasn’t eligible anymore. Of those 5, 3 were sold to customers and 2 were used for crash regulations. After a year, BMW bought back all of those 3 and locked them away in their underground garage.

I did not know that. I knew the GTR was a full on racecar, and the one in the game was specifically based on one used in ALMS. Wikipedia says they sold 10 road versions of them.

They needed to build 50, but they knew they wouldn’t meet the deadline (according to a 2003 C&D article) and called it quits after 10 were built. As for the crash test and others being bought back, I don’t know. I somehow doubt that.

I dug up a photo I snapped of the information BMW presented at car week. Apparently 6 were made. 3 were development cars and 3 are now owned by BMW.

Thats a great game, manual shifting with the right stick was great. Though, I was never able to actually beat it. The cops always got me as soon as I hopped in that damn M3. Beat every racer, all the challenges, just couldn’t escape from the cops at the end. Hints????
My favorite cop stop was the bus station. You could sit up top and just watch them all circle around below you, choppers hovering, bounty going up. If you needed a bit more, hop down, drive a loop and come back. Occasionally the cops would try and come up the ramp where I was at, but they would usually just fly though the glass and fall back down. Could hide there and they would “lose” you. Tried getting there with the M3, but those damn Rhino’s always smash me up.

A good hint for the final pursuit is stick to the highway. Higher speeds so they can’t box you in, and it’s open enough to avoid most blocks. Speedbreaker is your friend as well. As for Rhinos, again, speed breaker and slide on out of the way (It’s also best to swerve towards where they’re coming from after they start turning towards you). I like the highway that goes past the stadium and old bridge. Good luck!
