they have a nasty habit of taking weak shortcuts,or not going that last little bit......or the polar opposite where they use something BRAND NEW on the market that is prohibitively expensive, or hard to tune.

like when they built the front suspension on that drift cuda, and there isnt much explanation HOW it is done correctly....that cheap drag camaro comes to mind too.....hacking up the spectacular job that had been done on project x, just to turn it back to looking like it did in hollywood knights.....

entertaining show, dont get me wrong. Lucky is a national treasure.

i just hope that they dont do something silly, like leave the stock rear end in there, and then complain when they scatter it.........

Interesting. I subscribe to MTOD and I live for new episodes of Roadkill and Roadkill Garage. I think Steve Dulcich is another national treasure.

I get irritated that it is not easy for a novice like me to locate exactly what parts were used, exorbitant or otherwise. We’ll slap on this $5,000 Holley EFI conversion, then throw a $5,000 stainless exhaust at it, but we won’t mention just how costly it is.

Which is why I’m so happy that I’ve made my new pal in Nashville who is advising me on the 250 in Rusty. He saved me from wasting a whole bunch of money. Next summer, I’m road tripping to Nashville to visit the guy. I said I wanted to buy him breakfast and he said, “Why don’t you stay here and we’ll feed you breakfast!” I want to coordinate it so that I can attend a Roadkill event somewhere; all those things are way east of here.

Speaking of Rusty, the Parts Pile has reached critical mass and once I finish the engine swap on the Versa and getting that thing roadable, I’ll be plunging into getting Rusty going. I have a full HEI ignition, power steering, and a T5 transmission. I’ll be doing dual exhaust as well. Did I tell you that I met an Original Guru of the split cast iron manifold scene? O.G. Old School. Runs an exhaust shop.

MY GOD LOVES ME AND LIFE IS GOOD.

that is a TON of progress. those old guys are the best. the fun part is getting to watch them work, and learn life skills while youre at it.....

and that is a LARGE chunk of what i am talking about in terms of those shows. the flip side, is like when here recently they were going to have the rotsun/impala race, and then promptly roached something in the rot..... big buildup to not much..... fun show though, dont get me wrong.

Isn’t the coyote kinda wide anyways? They are going to have to cut so much out of that MG...

By putting an engine that weighs 236kg into a teeny-tiny car when you can get just a little less power from a Rover V8 that weighs 170kg?

Nah it’ll be a monster anyway, just not how I’d do it.

The latest episode of Roadkill Garage just posted and they get a ‘68 Wagoneer running. Freiburger has Rick Péwé on with him and I think that guy is another treasure. I think it’s a great episode. Roadkill is an inspiration to me.

Speaking of old guys, what’s your age? I’m 52.

Just ordered some parts for the Versa. Working on a post to start reporting on that project.

yeah, but a guy can always “compensate” by shoving the engine further back into the chassis, or by cheating and finding some weight savings with aluminium heads.

should be atleast fun to watch......

im too young to die old, and too old to die young. and i have already outlived far too many of my close friends......but i have gotten the opportunity to hang out with a bunch of old guys who know thier stuff, when it comes to putting together cars. i have gotten to see how a lot of the MAGIC is created. how to put things together so that i dont get myself killed.

those guys did some awesome work together at 4 wheel and offroad magazine, years ago......

Oh yeah absolutely. I’ve got a fully lightweighted 5.0 sitting at about 200kg which is much better, and you could certainly make up the difference with lightweighting on the car. The main issue with offsetting weight specifically in MG Bs is that the batteries (or battery if changed) are already in the back which would normally be your biggest dustribution gain.

Could be worse of course, could be a big block ;) still won’t be too bad anyway :)

good ol’ weight distribution....... you know that gas weighs a good 8 lbs per gallon, and most tanks are at least 10 gallons......thats a solid 80 lbs that a guy could put in a more constructive place...... its fun when you run out of “easy” places to just remove weight from, and you have to start shaving, and filing, switching to other materials.......

Yeah i really like mucking about with weight distribution. Put a ton of thought into it on my Spit to the point if should be stock Spit weight distribution despite having a sodding great cast-iron i6 in the front :) one of my favourite games.
