I’ve only been on Kinja a couple of years or so. In that time, I’ve seen the “all replies” button neutered so that it only opens 5 more comment threads at a time, I’ve seen text annotations go away, image annotations disappear, Kinja Product stop announcing platform updates, loss of ability to follow new blogs on our Dasboard feeds, the introduction of Infinite Scroll, permalinks lose the comment preview in the link address, and this new notification preview loss.
But we gained the ability to attach a “recommended stories” module to the bottom of our posts, so that’s nice.

I’ve been around for around four years.
The biggest change was the complete Kinja refresh that happened in 2014 and literally changed everything and made Kinja complete and utter shit. For a while, you could turn the update off and revert to the old version. But after a while, that went away. From what I remember, it caused a lot of people to leave for a while. This current version is called Tiger IIRC.
It’s odd how just as soon as one version of Kinja is becoming nearly stable, the Kinja team rolls out a brand new version and starts all over again.

Bummer, I never saw the old version. Did it have better features, or was it just more stable?
I actually like this “Tiger” Kinja a lot... when it works. But it’s shed a lot of features in the past couple of years, without many new features or improved stability to make up for it.

Really, what it is is an improvement for the official blogs.
The most annoying thing before was when the post author would post like one comment, and then you had to go to All Replies to see anything. Now, at least, if any of the editors on Jalopnik post a comment, it gets elevated. (You still end up having to go to Community or Pending, though, to really see that much.)
