Kinja'd!!!

So in 2015, I was assigned a parking spot at my work and given a tag. In 2016, no tag was given for my parking spot. In 2017, no tags were given for ANY parking spot. Today, there is a note that my spot, that I’ve been parking in for more than two years, is for tenants only and if I am there at the close of business, I’ll be towed. Then I learned that the landlord died and someone else bought the building. We have 8 less spots than employees and the spots we had aren’t ours. And the landlord’s son who works in the building next door gets my spot.

Enjoy the oil slicks in your new spot, sonny boy.

What does “for tenants only” even mean? Is your company not a tenant, or were your company’s building and the building next door under the same ownership and the parking spaces got haphazardly split up when things got reshuffled?

I’m having a hard time going from “company assigning spaces” to “company is short spaces, spaces now belong to mythical ‘tenant’s”, all in the same lot.

Obviously, the “surprise! this isn’t your parking spot and we’re going to tow you lol” can go horsefuck.

We’re not the only tenants in the building and they basically shuffled around who gets what spots and never told us. And apparently we have less now than we used to for some reason. The lot is never completely full, so I don’t know why. The two spots to the side of me are always open though.

I wonder if the parking is mentioned in your company’s lease terms. Arbitrary fuckage with the count of spaces seems like it would be worth making a stink over - but I bet the new ownership hasn’t even considered that anybody might have grounds for rabble rabble rabble. It’s possible the new ownership (the ones actually making decisions) haven’t even looked at the lease agreements.

Making agreement with a predatory parking contractor - that’s the hallmark of bad business judgment. I can’t imagine it will get better.

At this point, it’s up to the suits to sort out. But as it stands we have 22ish slots for 30ish employees in a lot with 70 slots. The street parking is either “residents only” or “no parking from 8-10AM” by the city. Some is also 2 hour only parking. There is a city parking garage 3 blocks away that would run $100/mo to park in or a park and ride lot 4 walking blocks. Working in an old ass downtown sucks.

End summary: if cretinism were like radiation, you’d be dying of cancer right now.

Either that or they communicate via telepathy while completely and utterly lacking in the ability to do so. Also, we’re short handed because someone died after hitting a tree while driving and another hasn’t been back to work because (I’m seriously not making this up) a tree hit him while driving. Yet we’re still short.
