a friend just won a copart auction for this, and just for shoots and googles I thought i’d be fun to find the previous owner online. maybe they were a car geek and it’s got some trick upgraded cams, who knows.

Info we have:

VIN - 6G2VX12U26L514471

Make/Model/Year - 2006 Pontiac GTO

Location - Houston, Texas

Many years ago I bought a wrecked civic, and upon pickup I found a license plate surround with the online forum and username of the previous owner. Was neat to be able to go online and see a partial build thread, and to read a story of how he rolled it street racing on snow tyres.

so play along and try find the PO, or just comment in general about his new donor car.

I’m very sad now. Thanks. :-( These cars are slowly being killed off. On the bright side, more spare parts for the rest of us.

May I ask how much he paid? When the time comes and I have the money I might go the complete car route versus a drivetrain dropout for my Trans Am.

IF I can find one local and have a place to store it.

not my car, so I’ll not say, but having watched the auctions with him for LS powertrains I can say they go between 3 and 5k in similar condition.

sell off the salvageable parts and you might make back $1k. i.e. on this car the panels are all scrap, and the suspension looks to be toast, but the interior should fetch some money.

I’ve done engine swaps both way, just buying the parts and buying a full wreck. I’d do full wreck everytime now.

With the times I’ve done just engines or engine/trans I had an issue with fitment or adapting each time. One time in particular a mid-year revision to how the throttle cable attached drove me crazy for a solid week until I gave up and hand made my own part.

With the full car everything was bolt in bolt out, and all the parts worked together, and the ECU was right, and on and on.

That’s what I was thinking, those front seats look nice enough to be an upgrade for crappy late ‘90s dodge truck buckets.

the friend is doing the LS into his Nissan S14, he linked me a few days ago to an s14 that had the full GTO interior, dash seat etc, swapped in. looked good.

I’ve done that with similar cars, but this is a 2005+ GTO drivetrain going into a 77 Trans Am. Lots of salvage places will sell you the engine, trans, wiring, PCM, throttle pedal, etc.

I’m sure there are little parts and pieces I would need from the complete GTO that would help the swap, as would parting out the shell of what I don’t need.
