Recently a co-worker drove me to pickup a take-out order in his Charger Hellcat, but for some reason the 707hp stock Hellcat wasn’t enough, so his had 790hp. These things are absolute monsters, and he made the NITTOs fucking scream every chance he got. I’ve never felt so much straight-line speed in a vehicle before.

I thought some was from the S class.
It was the only good thing DaimlerBenz did for Chrysler - gave them a platform that was light years ahead of anything they had. So good that they have never replaced it.

Historically, this E-Class was actually seen as a huge step back from the previous gen - there’s even a ‘reliability concerns’ section on its Wiki page.
Chrysler just used what they had. And used it well I guess, though most of their cars based on this platform are hopeless around corners since they had a habit of not upgrading the suspension and brakes when they increased the power output (looking at you 300C SRT8).
Mopar have used this platform much better lately though, won’t deny that.

Honestly, this is what a car should be. We’ve been so spoiled by electronic nannies and über-intrusive traction control systems that we forgot that cars with excessive power take skill to master and care to drive. No, you can’t pound the gas pedal into the floor board without the rear tires breaking loose, no, there’s not enough computer to stop you from killing yourself if you’re inclined to do so.

They are quite fuel efficient at highway speed. That seems to be a consistent number for HWY MPG across the Hellcat owners.
